Best Indoor Pickleball Balls: 8 Picks Compared

The short answer

Start with the Franklin X-26, the one indoor ball Pickleball Kitchen recommends, if your gym or league buys in bulk; pick the Gamma Photon Indoor, which UK coach Rob Williams of Advanced Pickleball calls “the all rounder”, for a 60-ball supply; and try the red PIXA Titan Pro 26 if a yellow or green ball disappears against your floor.

Our verdict

Top Picks

An indoor pickleball is built for smooth floors: wooden gym courts, church halls, vinyl and similar surfaces. Pickleball Effect says outdoor balls tend to skip and skid on wood courts, and Pickleball Kitchen puts gymnasium, vinyl and concrete flooring in the indoor-ball group. This guide compares eight balls that their makers sell as indoor balls, each with the maker’s own indoor claim, its hole count as the maker lists it, and its entry on USA Pickleball’s approved ball list with the date the list shows.

Three things set this guide apart from a general ball roundup. Every pick is an indoor ball by its maker’s own description, not an outdoor ball someone also plays inside. Every link names the exact pack it buys, from a three-ball sleeve to a 100-ball club box. And because several r/Pickleball players say their balls get lost against a painted gym floor, colour gets its own section. For outdoor and all-court picks, see our guide to the best pickleball balls; for how the two types differ, our explainer on indoor versus outdoor pickleball balls. If noise is the problem in your hall, our roundup of quiet pickleball balls compares eight balls sold as quiet.

“Approved” gives the list type and the date USA Pickleball’s approved ball list shows for the model, which we read on 24 October 2026; “Ind” is the list’s indoor type, some older entries show no date, and an entry does not say which pack it covers. Hole counts and weights are the maker’s published figures, with “not published” where the maker gives none; where we show a weight from the approved list’s own entry instead, the cell says so. The pack in the “Linked model” column is the exact listing each button opens.

How We Picked These Indoor Balls

How this guide was built

built from manufacturer documentation, USA Pickleball’s Equipment Standards Manual and approved ball list, published third-party reviews and owner reports; we have not tested these products ourselves.

What each ball had to show

  • Indoor by its maker’s own words: the maker’s product page (or, where the maker’s site refuses our readers, its own Amazon listing copy, labelled as such) sells it as an indoor ball, and we quote that claim in the review.
  • Approval status, read on the approved ball list on 24 October 2026: the list type (Ind, I/O or Out) and the date shown. Two picks are not on the list, and one has no entry under its current name; each review says so.
  • Hole count and weight as the maker lists them. For reference, USA Pickleball’s Equipment Standards Manual (January 2025, Revision 3) states: “The ball shall have a minimum of 26 to a maximum of 40 circular holes, with spacing of the holes and overall design of the ball conforming to flight characteristics.” Every pick with a published count (seven of the eight) uses the minimum, 26.
  • Play and durability impressions only as a named reviewer or the maker states them, with the date, and owner reports labelled as single replies.
  • Availability: a new, in-stock Amazon listing at or below the maker’s own list price for the same pack, sold by Amazon, by the brand or by a named third-party seller.
Who we read and what owners say on r/Pickleball

Who we read

Play impressions come from Pickleball Kitchen (Barrett Kincheloe, updated 25 April 2024), which recommends one indoor ball; Advanced Pickleball (Rob Williams, a UK coach, 1 February 2024), which sets out a “spectrum” of the indoor and outdoor balls common in the UK, from slower to bouncier; and Pickleball Effect (Braydon Unsicker, 20 April 2026), whose tested indoor pick is not one of ours (see below). Pickleball Kitchen and Pickleball Effect carry affiliate links; Advanced Pickleball is a coaching site. We found no sign that any of the three sells balls.

Balls we left out: the Onix Fuse Indoor, Pickleball Effect’s “Best Indoor Wood Court Ball” and the ball several r/Pickleball commenters name first for gym floors, because every Amazon listing we found was priced above Onix’s own list price for the same pack; the HEAD Championship 26 Indoor (sold by some retailers as the HEAD/Penn 26), because HEAD’s site refused our readers and we could not confirm HEAD’s own description or list price; the Wilson TRU 32 Indoor (a 32-hole ball), listed on Amazon above Wilson’s price; and the Jugs indoor ball, which Jugs’ own pickleball page no longer lists.

What owners say on r/Pickleball

We read seven r/Pickleball threads on indoor balls from 2023 to 2025, among them “Indoor pickleball of choice?” (November 2024), “What are the most common indoor balls used at tournaments on gym flooring?” (April 2025) and “Help! Best ‘indoor’ balls?” (January 2025). Two themes repeat. First, the floor decides the ball: several replies say a court with a hard-court or tennis surface takes an outdoor ball even under a roof, and an indoor ball is for wood, vinyl or polished floors. Second, colour against the floor matters: one poster’s yellow balls “disappear to my eyes in the yellow-painted wood gym we play in.” These are individual replies, not a sample, and each one we use is attributed below.

Franklin X-26 Indoor, Bulk indoor club pack

Bulk indoor club pack
Franklin Sports X-26 Pickleballs - Indoor - 100 Pack…

Franklin X-26

100-pack lime green · Indoor

Gyms, leagues and coaches who want the indoor ball Pickleball Kitchen recommends in a club-sized box.

$149.89 from AmazonAs of Oct 25, 16:39 UTC

Verdict

The one indoor ball Pickleball Kitchen recommends, sold here as a 100-ball box for a gym, league or coach. Advanced Pickleball calls it more of a performance tournament ball that can skid more often on wood, so try a few on your floor before you buy the whole box.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, exact model. Pickleball Kitchen: X-26 (pack and colour not stated).

Pickleball Kitchen (updated 25 April 2024) writes: “There’s only one indoor pickleball that I can recommend and that would be the Franklin X-26. This is a great ball that’s not only durable, but plays true as well.” Rob Williams of Advanced Pickleball (1 February 2024) is more mixed: the X-26 “plays a bit heavier and slicker than the rest. It can skid more often but is certainly more of a performance tournament ball and can be a challenge on wood.” Owners split the same way. In the November 2024 thread one commenter writes “The x-26 is hard as a rock. Onix is our preferred indoor ball,” while another has played blue X-26s on a basketball court “and haven’t had any problems.” The original poster bought the lime-green X-26 set, the colour linked here, and writes that they “have found them to be very hard to see indoors.” Read these as differing accounts rather than one verdict.

Franklin’s site refuses our readers, so Franklin’s indoor claim here comes from its own Amazon listing copy, which says the balls are “Optimized for reliable play on wood and composite surfaces” and are “constructed with 26 precisely placed holes.” The same listing gives 24 g and a 74 mm diameter. On the approved list, Franklin Sports Inc.’s “X-26 Indoor Ball” has two entries typed Ind and dated 12/01/2018, one of them lime green; a later “X-26” entry (Ind, 06/01/2020) and an orange one (Ind, 10/22/2020) cover other colours. This ball is also a pick in our best pickleball balls guide (as a 12-pack) and, as this same 100-pack, in our guide to which pickleball ball is used for competition and our indoor versus outdoor explainer. The linked listing is the 100-pack in lime green, sold by Amazon.

Specs (100-pack, lime green, the linked listing)

  • Type: indoor, 26 holes (Franklin’s Amazon listing; franklinsports.com refuses our readers)
  • Weight and size: 24 g, 74 mm (Franklin’s Amazon listing)
  • Construction: two-piece (Franklin’s Amazon listing)
  • Approval: on USA Pickleball’s approved list as type Ind (X-26 Indoor Ball, 12/01/2018)
  • Pack: 100 balls

Pros

  • The single indoor ball Pickleball Kitchen recommends, which it calls durable and true-playing
  • 100-ball box suits a gym, league or coach who wants one ball across every court
  • Listed by USA Pickleball as an indoor ball since December 2018

Cons

  • Can skid more often and be a challenge on wood, by Advanced Pickleball’s account
  • One r/Pickleball commenter calls it “hard as a rock” and prefers Onix indoors
  • One poster found the lime-green set “very hard to see indoors”
  • A 100-ball box is a large first purchase if your group has not played it yet

Gamma Photon Indoor

60-pack · Indoor

Clubs and regular groups that want the indoor ball Advanced Pickleball calls the all-rounder, bought by the box.

$108.87 from AmazonAs of Oct 25, 19:41 UTC

Verdict

Advanced Pickleball’s “all rounder” among the indoor balls common in the UK, with a lively bounce in Rob Williams’s account; the linked 60-pack suits a club or a group that plays several times a week.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, exact model. Advanced Pickleball (Rob Williams): Photon indoor (pack and colour not stated).

Rob Williams of Advanced Pickleball (1 February 2024) writes: “A really popular indoor ball is the Gamma Photon indoor. I define this as the all rounder: it’s a classic neon green colour, lasts a decent time for playability, retains its shape well and has a lively bounce.” Owners on r/Pickleball agree on popularity more than on feel. In the November 2024 thread one writes “Everyone here uses the Gamma Photon for indoor play (think basketball gym indoor).” In the April 2025 thread one says their group at the Y loves Photons because they are visible and “not slow mushy pieces of garbage like a lot of indoor balls,” while in a September 2025 thread another, advising a player on a polished concrete gym floor, writes that “The Gamma will feel slow off the paddle, but it will probably grip the floor better than other options.”

Gamma’s own page sells it as the “GAMMA PHOTON Indoor Pickleball” and lists “26 PRECISION MOLDED HOLES” and “ULTRA BALANCED TWO-PIECE CONSTRUCTION”; Gamma calls the colour high-vis green, while the Amazon listing’s colour field says yellow. Gamma does not publish a weight. The approved list carries “Photon Indoor Ball” under Gamma, type Ind, with no date shown. The Photon Indoor is also a pick in our best pickleball balls guide, as a 6-pack; we link the 60-pack here because the 6-pack listing was above Gamma’s own price when we checked. The linked listing is the 60-pack, sold by Amazon.

Specs (60-pack, the linked listing)

  • Type: indoor, 26 precision molded holes (Gamma)
  • Weight and size: not published by Gamma
  • Construction: two-piece (Gamma)
  • Approval: on USA Pickleball’s approved list as type Ind (Photon Indoor Ball; no date shown)
  • Pack: 60 balls

Pros

  • Advanced Pickleball’s indoor all-rounder, which it says lasts a decent time and keeps its shape
  • 60 balls in one box for a club or a regular group
  • High-vis colour that one r/Pickleball commenter calls “the most visible color”

Cons

  • A 60-ball pack is more than a single player needs
  • Accounts differ on pace: Advanced Pickleball calls the bounce lively, while one owner expects it to feel slow off the paddle
  • Gamma publishes no weight or diameter

PIXA Titan Pro 26 Indoor Pickleball Ball - USAPA Approved…

PIXA Titan Pro 26

12-pack rally red · Indoor

Players and groups who want a red indoor ball that stands out on a light or yellow floor.

$12.99 from AmazonAs of Oct 25, 19:41 UTC

Verdict

A red 26-hole indoor ball, listed by USA Pickleball in February 2025, for groups whose yellow or green balls blend into the floor; one owner calls it livelier and closer to an outdoor ball.

Evidence: No independent test; owner reports. r/Pickleball owner report: Titan Pro 26 (pack and colour not stated).

PIXA’s page says the Titan Pro 26 “is thoughtfully crafted in colors specifically selected for optimal visibility on indoor courts” and that its “26-hole design enhances flight stability and speed on indoor courts.” It also says: “Additionally, experience a consistent and reliable bounce on any court surface, however, they are specifically designed for less windy conditions, such as indoor courts.” PIXA’s tech-spec tab lists the surfaces as “Asphalt, Concrete and Clay”, so the maker’s description and its spec tab do not say quite the same thing; we take the description’s indoor claim as the design intent. PIXA gives 2.88 inches and 0.88 oz a ball; the approved list’s entry for the red Titan Pro 26 (Ind, added 02/14/2025) shows 2.875 inches and 0.93 oz, so the two sources differ on weight.

We found no independent test. In the January 2025 thread, one commenter whose gym uses white indoor balls writes that “a livelier ball is the PIXA Titan Pro 26 which is closer to an outside ball.” That is one owner’s report. The linked listing is the 12-pack in rally red, sold by PIXA’s own Amazon storefront and shipped by Amazon.

Specs (12-pack, rally red, the linked listing)

  • Type: indoor, 26 holes (PIXA)
  • Weight and size: 0.88 oz, 2.88 in (PIXA); 0.93 oz, 2.875 in on the approved list’s entry
  • Material: polypropylene (PIXA)
  • Approval: on USA Pickleball’s approved list as type Ind (Titan Pro 26, 02/14/2025)
  • Pack: 12 balls

Pros

  • Red ball that PIXA says it coloured for visibility on indoor courts
  • Listed by USA Pickleball as an indoor ball, added February 2025
  • One owner calls it livelier and closer to an outdoor ball

Cons

  • No independent test found; the play report is one owner’s
  • PIXA’s page and the approved list give different weights

Diadem Official Indoor

12-pack orange · Indoor

Gym-floor players who want a firmer orange indoor ball and do not need a list entry under its exact name.

$39.95 from AmazonAs of Oct 25, 19:41 UTC

Verdict

Diadem’s orange 26-hole ball for hardwood, sold as a 12-pack by a third-party seller; one owner says Diadem’s indoor balls feel harder and a little faster, more like outdoor balls. The approved list has no entry under this exact name.

Evidence: No independent test; owner reports. r/Pickleball owner report: Diadem indoor (model and pack not stated).

Diadem’s page (read 24 October 2026) says “The Official Pickleball Indoor Pickleball is a USAPA Tournament approved ball for indoor play, ideal for hardwood surfaces” (the list shows no entry under this name; see below), and that “the hard material and 26 equal size holes makes it ideal for indoor play.” It also says: “Tested in extreme conditions you can expect long lasting durability in weather as cold as 45 degrees.” That is Diadem’s claim; we found no independent test of it. Diadem’s Amazon listing goes further on surfaces, “Designed for indoor play on hardwood, Tennis Courts or Concrete,” so the page and the listing differ on where it belongs.

On the approved list we found three Diadem entries, none called “Official Indoor”: “Power Pickleball Indoor” (Ind, orange, added 09/06/2023), “Official” (I/O, yellow, added 04/26/2024) and “Premier Power” (I/O, added 01/08/2023). Amazon sells “Power Indoor” and “The Official Indoor” as variants of one listing, but the list does not say which entry, if any, covers this orange Official Indoor ball, so check with your event if approval matters. In the April 2025 thread, one commenter writes: “We’ve recently started using Diadem indoor balls. They feel more like outdoor balls, harder and a little faster. About half the people I play with, me included, really like them.” They do not name the model. The linked listing is the 12-pack in orange, sold and shipped by Great Call Athletics, a sporting-goods retailer that is not Diadem.

Specs (12-pack, orange, the linked listing)

  • Type: indoor, 26 equal size holes (Diadem)
  • Weight and size: not published by Diadem
  • Construction: single mold seamless (Diadem)
  • Approval: no entry named “Official Indoor”; Diadem’s “Power Pickleball Indoor” is listed as type Ind (09/06/2023)
  • Pack: 12 balls

Pros

  • Harder, slightly faster indoor ball by one owner’s account, for groups that find soft indoor balls slow
  • Orange colour that Diadem says is “for easy tracking during play inside”
  • 12-ball pack for a small group or league night

Cons

  • The approved list has no entry under this ball’s current name
  • Diadem’s page and Amazon listing differ on surfaces (hardwood vs hardwood, tennis courts or concrete)
  • Sold by a third-party retailer, Great Call Athletics, not Diadem

Onix Recruit Pure Indoor

3-pack orange · Indoor

Recreational gym-floor players who want to try an orange Onix indoor ball in a small pack and do not need a listed ball.

$8.52 from AmazonAs of Oct 25, 19:41 UTC

Verdict

Onix’s other indoor ball, the Recruit Pure, in an orange three-ball sleeve sold by Amazon; one owner calls it a significant upgrade on their YMCA’s balls for wooden courts, while another (December 2023) says it does not skip but is a little softer, cracks easier and does not hit as hard, which runs against Onix’s claim that it resists cracking. It is not on the approved list.

Evidence: No independent test; owner reports. r/Pickleball owner reports: Recruit Pure, orange (pack not stated).

Onix’s page (read 24 October 2026) says “The Pure Indoor ball features a precision-drilled hole pattern that ensures consistent flight and bounce on indoor surfaces such as gym floors and hardwood courts,” and that “Its durable construction resists cracking and splitting, even during intense rallies and extended play.” Onix does not publish the hole count or the weight. The approved list’s Onix entries are the 503 Outdoor, the Fuse Indoor Ball and two Fuse outdoor balls; we found no Recruit or Pure entry.

In the April 2025 thread, one commenter whose YMCA uses red Penn 26s writes: “I’ve started carrying my own orange Onyx Recruit Pures. Significant upgrade, probably the best balls for indoor wooden courts.” In a December 2023 thread, one owner who plays on a wood gym floor says the Onix Fuse G2 and the Franklin X-26 tend to skip, and writes: “The Onix Recruit and Penn 26 do not skip but they are a little softer balls so they crack easier and don’t hit as hard.” That owner’s account sits against Onix’s own claim above that the ball “resists cracking and splitting,” and we cannot say which is right. Both are single owner reports. The linked listing is the 3-pack in orange (Onix model KZR2003O), sold by Amazon.

Specs (3-pack, orange, the linked listing)

  • Type: indoor, precision-drilled hole pattern; hole count not published (Onix)
  • Weight and size: not published by Onix
  • Approval: not on USA Pickleball’s approved list (checked 24 October 2026)
  • Pack: 3 balls

Pros

  • Onix indoor ball that one owner says does not skip on wood
  • Small three-ball sleeve for trying an indoor ball before buying more
  • Orange, the colour Pickleball Effect suggests for yellowy wood floors

Cons

  • Not on USA Pickleball’s approved list, so not for events that require a listed ball
  • One owner calls it a little softer and says it cracks more easily and hits less hard, against Onix’s claim that it resists cracking
  • Onix publishes no hole count or weight

10-pack pouch · Indoor

Players who bring their own balls to open play and want a listed indoor ball in a bag-friendly pouch.

$16.95 from AmazonAs of Oct 25, 19:41 UTC

Verdict

A 26-hole indoor ball in a fluorescent ember colour, listed by USA Pickleball in April 2025, sold by Mint Sport in a ten-ball carry pouch; we found no independent test, so this is a pick on the maker’s specifications.

Evidence: No independent test; maker specs. Source: Mint Sport.

Mint Sport’s page says the balls are built with “two-piece injection molded construction, a 26-hole indoor design and a vivid fluorescent optic-ember finish, these USAPA approved indoor pickleballs deliver consistent bounce, stable flight and confident play from the first rally.” It describes the ten-ball pouch as one that “drops straight into your paddle bag.” Mint Sport does not publish a weight on the page; the approved list’s entry, “Cannonballz™ Indoor Pickleballs” (Ind, added 04/10/2025), shows 2.93 inches, 0.9 oz and the colour “Neon Ember Red”. The linked listing is the 10-pack pouch, sold and shipped by Mint Sport.

Specs (10-pack pouch, ember, the linked listing)

A11N S26

6-pack blue · Indoor

Groups on a yellow, orange or light wood floor who want a listed indoor ball in blue.

$6.99 from AmazonAs of Oct 25, 19:41 UTC

Verdict

A listed 26-hole indoor ball in blue, for floors where yellow and orange balls get lost; the one owner report we found comes from a tiled court rather than a gym.

Evidence: No independent test; owner reports. r/Pickleball owner report: S26 (colour and pack not stated; played on a tiled outdoor court).

A11N’s page describes “our indoor pickleballs, featuring 26 precisely machine-drilled holes,” and says they are “Designed for high visibility under various indoor lighting conditions.” A11N does not publish a weight on that page; the approved list’s entry, “A11N S26: Blue” (Ind, added 06/22/2023), shows 2.94 inches, 0.9 oz and TPE, and a yellow S26 entry carries the same date.

In the November 2024 thread, one commenter whose outdoor tile court’s manufacturer recommends indoor balls writes: “I bought A11N S26 balls. They are not for everyone, but I LOOOOOVE them.” The same commenter says they “play hard and fast” and “play like outdoor balls.” That is one owner on a tiled outdoor court, not a gym floor. In the January 2025 thread, the original poster calls sky blue the best colour for their yellow-painted gym; that is about colour, not this ball. The linked listing is the 6-pack in blue, sold by Leisure & Parklife, a third-party seller name that A11N’s site does not mention, and shipped by Amazon.

Specs (6-pack, blue, the linked listing)

  • Type: indoor, 26 machine-drilled holes (A11N)

Pros

  • Blue listed indoor ball for floors where yellow, green or orange blends in

Cons

Choosing an Indoor Ball for Your Floor

The floor, not the roof. Pickleball Effect’s rule is “Wood floor (gym, church) → Use an indoor ball” and “Concrete / hard court (indoor or outdoor facility) → Use an outdoor ball.” Pickleball Kitchen puts gymnasium, vinyl and concrete flooring in the indoor-ball group, so the two sources differ on bare concrete; on a court with a hard-court or acrylic surface, both point to an outdoor ball even under a roof. If that is your court, see our best outdoor pickleball balls. Our explainer on indoor versus outdoor pickleball balls goes deeper.

Colour against your floor. Pickleball Effect advises the orange Fuse because “It’s much easier to see on more yellowy wood floors,” and Pickleball Kitchen writes “For indoor, I recommend green or orange.” One poster in the November 2024 thread bought the lime-green X-26 set, the colour linked in our first pick, and found it “very hard to see indoors.” Owners in the January 2025 thread report the opposite problem too: orange can be hard to see for some players, and one group favours red Penn 26s against a wood background. The picks here cover red (PIXA), orange (Diadem, Onix), ember (Mint), blue (A11N), yellow (CORE), lime green (Franklin) and high-vis green (Gamma). If you can, borrow one ball in two colours and play a game with each.

Holes, specifications and the list. Every pick with a published count uses 26 holes, the manual’s minimum. The manual’s ranges are a product specification: “The ball shall weigh between 0.78 and 0.935 ounces (22.1 and 26.5 grams),” and “The ball shall have a bounce of 30 to 34 inches (76.2 to 86.4 cm) to the top of the ball when dropped from a height of 78 inches (198.1 cm) onto a granite surface plate that is a minimum of 12 inches (30.5 cm) by 12 inches (30.5 cm) by 4 inches (10.2 cm). The test is to be performed at an ambient temperature of 70 degrees F plus or minus 5 degrees F.” The approved list is where a ball’s approval shows; five of our eight have an Ind entry under their own name, the Diadem has none under its current name, and the Onix Recruit and CORE have none. Our guide to the types of pickleball balls explains the list types.

Pack size. Larger packs tend to cost less per ball, which is why the Franklin 100-pack and Gamma 60-pack sit in the lower tier; a three- or six-ball pack is the low-commitment way to try a ball on your floor first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Which pickleball is most commonly used for indoor play?

We found no count of indoor balls in use. Among the sources we read, Pickleball Kitchen recommends only the Franklin X-26, Pickleball Effect picks the Onix Fuse Indoor for wood courts, and the balls r/Pickleball replies name for gym floors include the Onix Fuse, the Gamma Photon and the Penn 26. One commenter in the April 2025 thread writes that the orange Onix Fuse “is most common for indoor gym floor tournaments.” For which balls events use, see our guide to which pickleball ball is used for competition.

Q. What is the best color for indoor pickleball balls?

It depends on your floor and walls. Pickleball Kitchen recommends green or orange indoors, Pickleball Effect recommends orange on yellowy wood, and in the January 2025 thread a player on a yellow-painted floor calls sky blue the best colour while a reply says their players favour red Penn 26s against a wood background. Choose the colour that contrasts most with your floor: red (PIXA), blue (A11N) and orange (Diadem, Onix) are all among the picks.

Q. Are there different balls for indoor and outdoor pickleball?

Yes. Makers sell indoor balls, typically with 26 holes, for smooth floors and outdoor balls, typically with 40, for rough hard courts; USA Pickleball’s approved list types each entry Ind, Out or I/O. Our indoor versus outdoor explainer covers the differences.

Q. Do indoor pickleball balls have bigger holes?

Indoor balls have fewer holes: every pick here with a published count has 26, and Pickleheads writes that “Indoor balls generally have 26 holes while outdoor balls usually have 40.” On size, Joys of Pickleball says indoor balls “have larger holes”; the makers of our picks do not publish hole diameters, so we cannot compare hole size from their figures.

Q. Does Life Time make an indoor pickleball?

We found no Life Time ball sold as an indoor ball. Its LT Pro 48 has 48 holes, per its Amazon title, which is outside the manual’s 26 to 40, and it was not on the approved list when we checked on 24 October 2026; it is covered in our best pickleball balls guide. In a September 2025 thread, one commenter says Lifetime balls “would be fine to use on indoor courts with a hard court/gritty surface.”

Q. Are red indoor pickleball balls easier to see?

On some floors. Rob Williams of Advanced Pickleball writes that the red Penn 26 plays well on a wooden gym floor and that “its red colour often tracks well”, and adds that some players find red balls hard to pick out against certain wall and floor colour combinations. The red picks here are the PIXA Titan Pro 26 and the Mint Cannonballz, which the approved list’s entry calls “Neon Ember Red”.

The bottom line

Final Verdict

For a gym or league buying in bulk, the Franklin X-26 (check price) is the one indoor ball Pickleball Kitchen recommends, with Advanced Pickleball’s note that it can skid on wood. The Gamma Photon Indoor (check price) is Advanced Pickleball’s all-rounder and comes as a 60-pack here. If your balls disappear into the floor, try the red PIXA Titan Pro 26 (check price) or the blue A11N S26 (check price), both listed indoor balls. Players who want a harder feel can look at the Diadem Official Indoor (check price), keeping in mind its list entry question, and anyone who only needs a few balls can start with the Onix Recruit Pure Indoor (check price) three-pack. For outdoor and all-court balls, see our best pickleball balls guide.
