The short answer
The K-Swiss Men’s Hypercourt Express 3 Indoor has a gum rubber outsole that K-Swiss calls “the ideal choice for all wood court sports”; the adidas Men’s Novaflight 2 Indoor has a non-marking outsole that adidas says protects gym floors from scuff marks; and the K-Swiss Men’s Ultrashot Light Indoor pairs a gum rubber outsole with a shoe a racquet shop calls “SUPER LIGHT”.
Our verdict
Our Top Picks: Men’s Indoor Pickleball Shoes
Indoor pickleball puts you on a gym floor, such as sealed wood or the smooth sports flooring of a rec center, rather than outdoor concrete. This guide is not a general list of men’s shoes. Every pick is a men’s shoe whose maker sells it for indoor courts or describes a gum-rubber or non-marking outsole for gym floors, and each review quotes those words. Five are indoor court shoes sold for volleyball, squash or indoor sports in general; three are the Indoor versions of K-Swiss court shoes.
Every pick was new and in stock on Amazon when we checked on October 25, 2026, and each review names the exact men’s size and colour we link. Weights appear only with the size they were measured at and their source. For men’s and women’s indoor shoes picked on testers’ reports, see our indoor pickleball shoes guide; for an all-round men’s lineup, see our men’s pickleball shoes.

The court and outsole words are the makers’ own: K-Swiss’s and Salming’s from their websites; ASICS’s from its outlet store’s product page and its US site’s search-result description, because ASICS’s US store refuses our reader; adidas’s from its search-result descriptions and Amazon listing text, because adidas.com refuses our reader. Which indoor shoe for which player
- You want the maker to name gum rubber: K-Swiss Men’s Hypercourt Express 3 Indoor and K-Swiss Men’s Ultrashot Light Indoor. K-Swiss calls the first ideal for wood court sports and the second a shoe for all indoor sports athletes.
- You want a shoe the maker says will not mark the floor: adidas Men’s Novaflight 2 Indoor and adidas Men’s Court Team Bounce 2.0 both have outsoles adidas calls non-marking.
- You want a higher collar: the adidas Men’s Crazyflight 6 Mid is mid-cut; the other seven picks are low-cut.
- You also play squash, racquetball or badminton: the Salming Men’s Viper Pro is a squash shoe, SquashSource tried the ASICS Men’s Gel-Tactic 13 on a squash court, and Bell Racquet Sports says the Ultrashot Light Indoor crosses over from squash and racquetball to gym-floor pickleball.
- You want the maker to stress stability: ASICS sells the Gel-Tactic 13 for “Advanced stability and grip for indoor court players”, with a side wall it says stabilizes the foot in side-to-side moves.
- You want K-Swiss without a gum sole: K-Swiss sells the Express Light Indoor as “the perfect all-around indoor shoe”, with an Aosta rubber compound outsole.
- You need a wide fit: none of the linked pairs is a wide version. SquashSource says ASICS shoes tend to run a little narrow but finds a bit more toe room in the Gel-Tactic 13 than in most ASICS shoes, and Bell calls the Ultrashot Light Indoor average to slightly narrow. See our men’s wide pickleball shoes guide.
Picks: K-Swiss Men’s Hypercourt Express 3 Indoor, adidas Men’s Novaflight 2 Indoor, K-Swiss Men’s Ultrashot Light Indoor, K-Swiss Men’s Express Light Indoor, adidas Men’s Crazyflight 6 Mid, adidas Men’s Court Team Bounce 2.0, ASICS Men’s Gel-Tactic 13, Salming Men’s Viper Pro.
What makes a men’s shoe an indoor shoe
The rubber. PickleRage, which runs indoor pickleball courts, puts the difference this way: “Indoor court shoes have softer, non-marking rubber soles to maximize traction on gym floors, while outdoor models feature tougher outsoles that withstand rougher surfaces like asphalt or concrete.” Makers signal the indoor kind in two ways: by naming gum rubber (K-Swiss’s Hypercourt Express 3 Indoor and Ultrashot Light Indoor) or by calling the outsole non-marking (adidas’s Novaflight 2 and Court Team Bounce 2.0).
The floor. Let’s Pickleball writes that “Maple sports floors typically offer less dry grip than acrylic outdoor surfaces. That’s why some outdoor rubber compounds can “skate” indoors, especially on fresh finish.” Its advice is to “Choose a soft, non-marking rubber made for indoor courts and a tread that grips in every direction.”
The sport the shoe was built for. Bell Racquet Sports, a retailer, files indoor pickleball shoes with other indoor court footwear: “Racquetball Shoes, Squash Shoes, Pickleball Shoes and Volleyball Shoes all fall under this category of footwear.” Let’s Pickleball answers its own question, “Are volleyball shoes good for pickleball on wood?”, with: “Yes—many volleyball shoes use non-marking gum rubber and prioritize lateral stability and cushioning for indoor jumps and cuts.” Five picks here are volleyball, squash or general indoor shoes; the three K-Swiss shoes are Indoor versions of K-Swiss court shoes.
The maker’s label, not the colour. A gum-coloured sole is not a promise. We counted a shoe only when its maker’s own words said indoor, gum rubber or non-marking, and each review quotes them.
How we chose men’s indoor shoes
How this guide was built
built from manufacturer documentation, published third-party reviews and owner reports; we have not tested these products ourselves.
What every pick had to show
- A men’s shoe with an indoor statement from its maker. The maker’s page, its search-result description or its own Amazon listing text sells the shoe for indoor courts or names a gum-rubber or non-marking outsole, quoted in the review. A shop or a reviewer saying a shoe works indoors was not enough on its own.
- Men’s sizing. Shoes sold only in unisex sizing were left out.
- On Amazon, new, in stock, at or below the maker’s regular price. Amazon.com held two of the offers and the K-Swiss storefront two; four were held by other sellers, named in their reviews. Salming publishes no US price, so for its shoe we used the regular price US racquet shops list. Sellers change by size and day, so read the listing before you buy.
- Weight only with its size and source. We do not compare the shoes by weight.
- Not already a pick in our other shoe guides, where we could. None of the eight is the same model and version as a pick in our live shoe guides. Three near-overlaps are sibling K-Swiss models, not the same shoes: our cushioned pickleball shoes guide picks the standard Hypercourt Express 3, which K-Swiss sells as a separate shoe without the gum outsole, and our men’s pickleball shoes guide picks the K-Swiss Ultrashot Light and Express Light Pickleball 2, the pickleball versions of the Ultrashot Light Indoor and Express Light Indoor here.
Where the evidence comes from and what indoor players say
Where the evidence comes from
Each review has an evidence line. “Same series” means an independent reviewer tested the model, but not necessarily in the size or colour we link. “Retailer review” means a shop that sells the shoe wrote it. “Maker specs” means we found no independent test, so the review rests on the maker’s description. SquashSource, a squash equipment blog, reviewed the Gel-Tactic 13 and the Viper Pro; Bell Racquet Sports, a retailer, wrote its own take on the Ultrashot Light Indoor. The other five rest on maker specs. The two independent reviews we found tested their shoes for squash, not pickleball, so read each review’s notes on what was tested.
What indoor players say
In an r/Pickleball thread asking for shoe recommendations, one player wrote: “I play indoor. Volleyball shoes. Adidas has a wide two box.” That is one player’s report, but it matches what the indoor-court sources above say about volleyball shoes on gym floors.
Detailed Reviews
K-Swiss Men’s Hypercourt Express 3 Indoor, Gum sole for wood courts
A man who plays on wood gym floors and wants a gum rubber outsole from a court-shoe line he may already know.
$130.00 from AmazonAs of Oct 25, 11:46 UTCThe product description on K-Swiss’s Hypercourt Express 3 Indoor page calls it “the update of the top selling Hypercourt Express 2 Indoor model” and says: “Keeping its trademarks of being a lightweight, breathable shoe with a generous fit in the forefoot, the Hypercourt Express 3 Indoor, with its gum rubber outsole, is the ideal choice for all wood court sports.” It also says the new surgelite+ midsole makes it “even more comfortbale and more stable with no break-in time needed” (K-Swiss’s spelling). The feature panel on the same page tells a different story: “Get the fan-favorite fit, engineered for the demands of modern tennis.”, with “SURGE 7.0 CUSHIONING” and an “AOSTA II + DRAGGUARD 7.0” outsole. So one K-Swiss page names a gum rubber outsole for wood court sports in its description and a tennis shoe with an Aosta II and DragGuard 7.0 outsole in its feature panel; we give both, and the shoe makes this list on the description. K-Swiss’s Amazon listing names a Durawrap Flex upper, a SURGE+ 7.0 cushioning system, a 180 PSC midfoot chassis, and DragGuard 7.0 “in the high wear areas of the toe and heel”.
This is a separate shoe from the standard Hypercourt Express 3, which our cushioned pickleball shoes guide picks; K-Swiss sells the Indoor under its own product code with the gum outsole. We found no independent review of the Indoor version, so this pick rests on K-Swiss’s description. The K-Swiss storefront sold the men’s 10.5 we link.
Verdict
A K-Swiss shoe whose maker names a gum rubber outsole for wood court sports, described by K-Swiss as generous in the forefoot and ready without a break-in.
Evidence: No independent test; maker specs. Source: K-Swiss product page.
Specs (men’s 10.5, White/Black/High Risk Red)
- Court: “all wood court sports” (K-Swiss product description); “engineered for the demands of modern tennis” (K-Swiss feature panel, same page)
- Outsole: gum rubber (K-Swiss product description); Aosta II + DragGuard 7.0 (K-Swiss feature panel); DragGuard 7.0 at toe and heel (K-Swiss Amazon listing)
- Midsole: surgelite+ (K-Swiss product description); SURGE 7.0 cushioning (K-Swiss feature panel); SURGE+ 7.0 (K-Swiss Amazon listing)
- Upper: synthetic leather and textile; Durawrap Flex (K-Swiss)

- Forefoot fit K-Swiss calls generous

- Sold by the K-Swiss storefront at K-Swiss’s own price
Cons
- No independent review of the Indoor version yet; this pick rests on K-Swiss’s description
- K-Swiss’s own page also calls it a modern tennis shoe with an Aosta II outsole, beside the gum rubber description
- Weight not published
- Only three pairs left in the size we link when we checked on October 25, 2026
Who should buy it
A man who plays on wood gym floors and wants a gum rubber outsole from a court-shoe line he may already know.
adidas Men’s Novaflight 2 Indoor, Non-marking volleyball
A man who plays on gym floors where non-marking soles matter and wants an indoor volleyball shoe sold by Amazon.com.
$63.10 from AmazonAs of Oct 25, 11:46 UTCadidas sells it as the “Novaflight 2 Indoor Shoes” and, in the description its US site shows in search results, “Comfortable shoes for indoor sports, made in part with recycled materials” (adidas.com refuses our reader). adidas’s Amazon listing text is specific about the outsole: “NON-MARKING OUTSOLE: The high-durability rubber outsole in these shoes grips surfaces for razor-sharp control and traction for each play, while protecting gym floors from scuff marks.” The same text calls them “men’s volleyball shoes” with “classic indoor court shoe design cues”, a Lightstrike heel, an EVA midsole, and “TPU film reinforcement in high-wear zones”.
We found no independent review of the Novaflight 2 in men’s sizing, so this pick rests on adidas’s text. Amazon.com sold the men’s 10.5 we link.
Verdict

K-Swiss Men’s Ultrashot Light Indoor, Gum-sole multi-sport
K-Swiss Ultrashot Light Indoor
A man with average or narrow feet who wants a gum-soled indoor shoe and also plays squash, racquetball or badminton.
$90.00 from AmazonAs of Oct 25, 11:46 UTCK-Swiss’s Ultrashot Light Indoor page calls it “the newest edition to the Indoor family” with “a Dragguard 7.0 gum rubber outsole for excellent traction on court. For all indoor sports athletes, the Ultrashot TR Indoor is an ideal shoe for stability, comfort, and a fresh upper design.” (K-Swiss’s page uses both names.) K-Swiss’s Amazon listing text says something different: “HARD COURT DURABILITY – DragGuard rubber outsole provides reliable grip and long-lasting durability for repeated toe drags, quick stops and everyday hard court play.” We go by the K-Swiss site for the court and give both, because the two K-Swiss texts disagree. The listing also says it is “true to size for most players” and suggests half a size up for wider feet; it gives a weight with no size, so we leave it out.
Bell Racquet Sports, which sells it and lists it under indoor pickleball shoes, wrote: “Narrower than the wider fit K-Swiss has become reknown for, this one is average to slightly narrow in width. It is SUPER LIGHT and has a smooth feel that slips on easily with a secure fit in the heel for assurance on the court. We think this one crosses over nicely from squash, racquetball and gym floor pickleball to badminton, volleyball and more!” Bell’s page is for the men’s White/Black and does not name a size. Our indoor pickleball shoes guide picks the women’s version; this is the men’s. The K-Swiss storefront sold the men’s 11.5 we link.
Verdict
A gum-soled K-Swiss indoor shoe that a racquet shop calls very light and slightly narrow, for players who want the narrower fit Bell describes.
Evidence: Retailer review (sells it), not independent. Bell Racquet Sports: men’s White/Black, size not stated.
Specs (men’s 11.5, White/Black/High Risk Red)
- Court: all indoor sports (K-Swiss site); “everyday hard court play” (K-Swiss Amazon listing)
- Outsole: Dragguard 7.0 gum rubber (K-Swiss site)
- Midsole: CMEVA (K-Swiss site); Surgelite (K-Swiss Amazon listing)
- Upper: synthetic with Durawrap light (K-Swiss site)
- Fit: “true to size for most players”, half size up for wider feet (K-Swiss Amazon listing); “average to slightly narrow” (Bell)
- Weight: not published with a size
Pros
- Dragguard 7.0 gum rubber outsole for all indoor sports, per K-Swiss’s site
- A retailer that sells it calls it “SUPER LIGHT” with a secure heel
- Bell says it crosses over from squash and racquetball to gym-floor pickleball
- Sold by the K-Swiss storefront at K-Swiss’s own price
Cons
- Average to slightly narrow, per Bell; not for wide feet
- K-Swiss’s Amazon text describes hard-court play, unlike its own site
- Only a retailer’s review, no independent test
- Only three pairs left in the size we link when we checked on October 25, 2026
Who should buy it
A man with average or narrow feet who wants a gum-soled indoor shoe and also plays squash, racquetball or badminton.
K-Swiss Men’s Express Light Indoor, All-around indoor shoe
A man who wants an indoor shoe from K-Swiss's Express Light family for pickleball and other gym-floor sports.
$110.00 from AmazonAs of Oct 25, 11:46 UTCK-Swiss’s Express Light Indoor page says it “is designed for players of all levels with this lightweight and breathable shoe that ensures optimal comfort and agility on the court. With a K-EVA cushioned midsole and 180-degree Plantar Support Chassis, it offers superior stability and responsiveness during intense play. Engineered for durability, the Aosta rubber compound outsole with DragGuard technology provides exceptional wear resistance. The perfect all-around indoor shoe”. K-Swiss names an Aosta rubber compound here, not gum rubber, but it sells the shoe for indoor play. Its Amazon listing adds a heel grip lining and an Ortholite insole.
We found no independent review of the Express Light Indoor. On Amazon every men’s size we checked was sold by PaddlePro, a third-party seller, at K-Swiss’s own price; we link the men’s 10.
Verdict
K-Swiss’s indoor version of its Express Light, sold as an all-around indoor shoe with an outsole K-Swiss calls wear-resistant, for players who want K-Swiss without the gum rubber of picks 1 and 3.

adidas Men’s Crazyflight 6 Mid, Mid-cut indoor shoe
A man who wants a mid-cut indoor shoe for gym floors and is happy with a shoe built for indoor sports in general.
$68.00 from AmazonAs of Oct 25, 11:46 UTCadidas sells this as the “Crazyflight 6 Mid Indoor Shoes” on its US site (adidas.com refuses our reader, so we read its search-result entries). adidas’s Amazon listing text opens: “Take your game to new heights in lightweight shoes for indoor sports.” It describes a regular fit, “Not tight and not loose”, and a Boost midsole. adidas.com’s entries for this shoe, including the Team Solar Orange colour we link, list a “Rubber outsole”, a “Mid-cut design” and a “TPU heel counter”. It is mid-cut; the other seven picks are low-cut.
We found no independent review of the Crazyflight 6 Mid. WearTesters reviewed an adidas Crazyflight in 2024 without naming the generation, so we do not use it here. Amazon.com sold the men’s 7.5 we link; most other in-stock men’s sizes we saw were other colours sold by SHOEBACCA.
Verdict
An adidas indoor shoe with a mid-cut collar, for players who prefer a higher collar to a low-cut shoe.
Evidence: No independent test; maker specs. Source: adidas product text.
Specs (men’s 7.5, Team Solar Orange/Zero Metallic/Bright Royal)

adidas Men’s Court Team Bounce 2.0, All-indoor-sports shoe
A man who wants a plain low-cut indoor court shoe with a non-marking sole for pickleball and other gym sports.
$53.06 from AmazonAs of Oct 25, 11:46 UTCadidas’s US site describes the Court Team Bounce 2.0 in search results as “Cushioned shoes for indoor courts” with “a grippy rubber outsole” that “ensures you make your mark without leaving one on the court”, and lists a “Non-marking rubber outsole”. adidas’s Amazon text on another Court Team Bounce 2.0 listing calls it “Men’s shoes for all indoor sports” and says: “INDOOR OUTSOLE: The grippy, non-marking rubber outsole is specially designed for flat indoor surfaces.” The listing we link adds a dual-layer mesh upper, a Bounce midsole and an abrasion-resistant TPU forefoot.
SquashSource reviewed the original Court Team Bounce as part of a sponsored post with adidas, so we do not count it as independent. SHOEBACCA, a third-party seller, held the offer on the Blue men’s 9.5 we link, below adidas’s regular price; the other men’s listings we checked were out of stock or held only a size 14.5.
Verdict
An adidas indoor court shoe whose maker calls the outsole non-marking and made for flat indoor surfaces, for players who want a simple low-cut gym shoe.
Evidence: No independent test; maker specs. Source: adidas product text.

Who should buy it
A man who wants a plain low-cut indoor court shoe with a non-marking sole for pickleball and other gym sports.
ASICS Men’s Gel-Tactic 13, Indoor stability shoe
A man who wants an indoor court shoe built for side-to-side stability and also plays squash or volleyball.
$99.00 from AmazonAs of Oct 25, 11:46 UTCASICS’s outlet store describes it in its product text as an indoor shoe: “The GEL-TACTIC 13 indoor shoe gives you the support and control you need to move with confidence on the court.” Its US site, in the product description shown in search results (ASICS’s US store refuses our reader), heads the men’s White/Black page with “Advanced stability and grip for indoor court players.” ASICS’s Canadian page, which we could read in full, adds that “The STABLETRUSS™ feature implements a large side wall that’s engineered to stabilize the foot and provide support from the forefoot to the rearfoot during side-to-side movements” and that “The circular outsole patterns with horizontal grooves are designed to provide advanced traction during side-to-side movements.” ASICS does not name the outsole compound or publish a weight on the pages we read, and it lists the shoe among its men’s volleyball shoes.
SquashSource gave the men’s Gel-Tactic 13 a first look after one match on a squash court: “There’s just a lot of grip.” It wrote that “these are my regular size”, without saying which size, and that ASICS shoes tend to run a little narrow, though the Tactic has a bit more room in the toe box than most ASICS shoes. SquashSource weighed its pair but did not say which size, so we give no weight. MyVolleyballGear, a third-party seller, held the offer on the men’s 11 we link, below ASICS’s regular price.
Verdict
ASICS’s men’s indoor court shoe built around side-to-side stability, which a squash reviewer found very grippy, for players who want support in lateral moves.
Evidence: Independently reviewed, same series. SquashSource: men’s Gel-Tactic 13 (2025), first look after one match on a squash court, size and colour not stated.
Specs (men’s 11, White/Black)
- Court: “indoor court players” (ASICS US); “indoor shoe” (ASICS outlet)
- Outsole: circular pattern with horizontal grooves, wrapped-up construction; compound not named (ASICS)
- Stability: STABLETRUSS side wall (ASICS)
- Upper: no-sew film covered mesh (ASICS)
- Fit: SquashSource says ASICS tend to run a little narrow, with a bit more toe room in the Tactic than most ASICS shoes
- Weight: not published by ASICS
Pros
- Sold by ASICS for indoor court players
- STABLETRUSS side wall that ASICS says stabilizes the foot in side-to-side moves
- Grip SquashSource called plentiful on a squash court
- A bit more toe room than most ASICS shoes, per SquashSource
Cons
- SquashSource’s look came after one match, in an unstated size
- ASICS does not name the outsole compound
- Sold by a third-party seller, MyVolleyballGear
- A volleyball shoe, not a pickleball model
Who should buy it
A man who wants an indoor court shoe built for side-to-side stability and also plays squash or volleyball.
Salming Men’s Viper Pro, Fast indoor squash shoe
A man who plays squash or racquetball as well as indoor pickleball and wants a quick, low shoe from an indoor-sports brand.
$150.00 from AmazonAs of Oct 25, 11:46 UTCSalming titles the Viper Pro’s page “LIGHTWEIGHT SPEED FOR INDOOR COURTS” and writes: “Built for fast indoor play. Viper Pro combines a lightweight feel, low 6 mm drop and strong court grip for quick turns, acceleration and control.” Its product page names “the XR200 outsole, offering enhanced grip and cushioning for better control during quick turns and acceleration.” The Specifications tab on Salming’s page for the current colourway lists “Weight 325 g (US 9/EU 42 2/3)”, “Shoe type Indoor” and “Drop 6 mm”. The seller’s Amazon listing disagrees on two counts: it gives “Drop – 10mm” and “Shoe Weight – 310g (US 9)”. We use Salming’s figures and note the listing’s.
SquashSource reviewed the men’s Viper Pro in several colours, including the grey and white, in the reviewer’s own size, which it does not state. Salming North America sent the pairs, and the reviewer kept one; SquashSource says so. It wrote: “The soles really required no break-in at all for me. I played with these um just recently and found them to be quite grippy.” On fit: “It is not as narrow as some other brands like Asics, which can be a little tight in the toe box.” Salming’s online store prices it in euros and we found no Salming US store, so it publishes no US price; RacquetGalaxy, a third-party seller, held the men’s 12 we link, below the regular price US racquet shops list.
Verdict
A squash shoe built by Salming for fast indoor play, which SquashSource found grippy and in need of no break-in, for players who move quickly and want a fit SquashSource found less narrow than ASICS shoes.
Evidence: Independently reviewed, same series. SquashSource: men’s Viper Pro, 2025 colourways incl. grey/white, size not stated.
Specs (men’s 12, White/Grey)
- Court: indoor courts (Salming)
- Outsole: XR200 (Salming)
- Drop: 6 mm (Salming); 10 mm (seller’s Amazon listing)
- Upper: ViperSKIN 2.0 (Salming)
- Weight: 325 g, US 9 (Salming); the seller’s Amazon listing says 310 g, US 9
Pros
- XR200 outsole that Salming builds for grip on indoor courts
- Soles SquashSource found grippy with no break-in
- Fit SquashSource calls less narrow than ASICS
- Built by Salming for fast indoor play
Cons
- Salming and the Amazon listing disagree on the drop (6 mm vs 10 mm) and the weight at US 9 (325 g vs 310 g)
- SquashSource’s pairs came free from Salming North America
- Sold by a third-party seller, RacquetGalaxy, in the size we link
- A squash shoe, not a pickleball model
Who should buy it
A man who plays squash or racquetball as well as indoor pickleball and wants a quick, low shoe from an indoor-sports brand.
Checks before you take a shoe on a gym floor
- Read the maker’s court words. K-Swiss’s site sells the Ultrashot Light Indoor for indoor sports, but its Amazon text talks about hard court play, and the Hypercourt Express 3 Indoor page names gum rubber in its description and a tennis outsole in its feature panel; the reviews say which text says what.
- Keep indoor shoes indoors. PickleRage writes that indoor shoes have softer, non-marking soles while outdoor models have tougher outsoles for asphalt or concrete.
- Check the fit notes. SquashSource says ASICS shoes tend to run a little narrow, with a bit more toe room in the Gel-Tactic 13; Bell calls the Ultrashot Light Indoor average to slightly narrow; K-Swiss calls the Hypercourt Express 3 Indoor generous in the forefoot.
- Check the seller. Four picks were held by third-party sellers at or below the maker’s price; the seller can change by size and day.
- Ask your facility. Let’s Pickleball notes that “Many schools and rec centers ban outdoor shoes on wood.” If yours asks for non-marking soles, adidas states that for the Novaflight 2 and Court Team Bounce 2.0.

Shoes we left out
- ASICS Men’s Upcourt 6: ASICS’s own product text calls it a men’s court shoe and names neither indoor use nor its outsole; only ASICS’s category and navigation labels say indoor, and we count the maker’s product words, not its menus.
- HEAD Sprint Pro 4.0 Indoor and Sprint Team 4.0 Indoor: HEAD’s US site lists them under both men’s and women’s squash shoes, and its product pages refuse our reader, so we could not confirm men’s sizing from HEAD.
- K-Swiss Men’s Hypercourt Express 2 Indoor: already a pick in our indoor pickleball shoes guide.
- Python Deluxe Indoor: Python sells it on its own site for less than the Amazon offers we found.
- Mizuno Wave Momentum 3: Mizuno’s US site sells it in unisex sizing, and its text does not call the outsole indoor or non-marking.
- YONEX Power Cushion 65 Z4 Men’s: Yonex’s US page does not describe an indoor outsole, and the two Amazon listings we checked were out of stock.
- HEAD Grid 2.0 Low: its Amazon listing names a non-marking gum rubber outsole, but we found no HEAD page for the model to check it against.
- Tyrol Men’s Smash and Stack: Tyrol describes their outsole for any playing surface, outdoor and indoor, so they are all-surface shoes rather than indoor shoes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Which shoes are best for indoor pickleball?
Shoes whose makers build the outsole for indoor floors: gum rubber or non-marking rubber, sold for indoor courts. Among the men’s shoes here, K-Swiss names gum rubber for the Hypercourt Express 3 Indoor and Ultrashot Light Indoor, and adidas calls the outsoles of the Novaflight 2 and Court Team Bounce 2.0 non-marking. Which suits you depends on fit and how you move; our guide on how to choose pickleball shoes covers fit and support.
Q. Is there a difference in indoor and outdoor pickleball shoes?
Yes, in the outsole. PickleRage writes: “Indoor court shoes have softer, non-marking rubber soles to maximize traction on gym floors, while outdoor models feature tougher outsoles that withstand rougher surfaces like asphalt or concrete.” For outdoor men’s shoes, see our outdoor pickleball shoes guide.
Q. What should I wear for indoor pickleball?
Court shoes with a non-marking sole, plus whatever lets you move freely. Our guide to what to wear for pickleball covers clothing and accessories.
Q. Are volleyball shoes good for indoor pickleball?
Let’s Pickleball answers yes for wood floors: “many volleyball shoes use non-marking gum rubber and prioritize lateral stability and cushioning for indoor jumps and cuts.” adidas calls the Novaflight 2 a men’s volleyball shoe, and ASICS lists the Gel-Tactic 13 among its men’s volleyball shoes and sells it for indoor court players; the adidas Crazyflight 6 Mid and Court Team Bounce 2.0 are adidas indoor shoes.
Q. Which adidas shoes work for indoor pickleball?
adidas makes three of the picks here. The Novaflight 2 Indoor and Court Team Bounce 2.0 have outsoles adidas calls non-marking; the Crazyflight 6 Mid is the mid-cut option.
Q. Can I wear tennis shoes for indoor pickleball?
It depends on the outsole. For an indoor floor, look for a maker who calls the sole gum rubber or non-marking; K-Swiss, for example, sells Indoor versions of its Hypercourt Express and Ultrashot tennis shoes with gum rubber outsoles. Our guide on whether you can wear tennis shoes for pickleball goes further.
Q. What shoes do most pickleball players wear?
No source we read counts that. For a broad lineup of men’s and women’s shoes, see our pickleball shoes compared guide.
The bottom line
Final Verdict
If you want the maker to name gum rubber for wood floors, start with the K-Swiss Men’s Hypercourt Express 3 Indoor (check price), which K-Swiss calls ideal for all wood court sports, or the K-Swiss Men’s Ultrashot Light Indoor (check price), its gum-soled shoe for all indoor sports, which Bell calls slightly narrow. If a non-marking sole is your priority, adidas says the adidas Men’s Novaflight 2 Indoor (check price) protects gym floors from scuff marks, and it calls the adidas Men’s Court Team Bounce 2.0 (check price) outsole non-marking too. The adidas Men’s Crazyflight 6 Mid (check price) is the mid-cut choice, the K-Swiss Men’s Express Light Indoor (check price) is K-Swiss’s all-around indoor shoe, the ASICS Men’s Gel-Tactic 13 (check price) is ASICS’s indoor court shoe built for side-to-side stability, and the Salming Men’s Viper Pro (check price) is a squash shoe for fast indoor play.
