Best Pro Pickleball Paddles: 8 Picks Compared

The short answer

The JOOLA Perseus Pro V is the elongated flagship for players who bring their own power, the PIKKL Hurricane Pro is the lighter widebody control paddle, and the CRBN TruFoam Barrage (check price) is the foam-core option for aggressive players.

Our verdict

Our Top Picks

“Pro” means two things in paddle searches. Retailers use it for advanced-level paddles, and fans use it for the paddles touring pros actually play. This guide covers the second meaning: eight paddles stocked on Amazon that a named touring pro plays or has signed, with each pro-use claim tied to a named source and a date, because sponsorships change quickly. Where a pro’s own edition differs from the paddle we link, the review says so. To check what a pro plays yourself, see our guide to what paddle pickleball pros use.

A pro’s name on a paddle is a fact about that pro, not a promise about your game. Nothing here says a paddle will make anyone play like a pro; the reviews describe what testers found and who each paddle suits. For the overall list across every style, see our guide to the best pickleball paddles; this one is organised around who plays what.

Every row is the exact variant we link. Core and weight lead because they change how a paddle swings most; the figures are the makers’ own unless a source is named. “USA Pickleball” is what the approved-paddle list showed for that model on 2026-10-21. The column matters because approval differs by body: Paddletek says its TKO-X 14mm is approved for UPA competition but not for USA Pickleball-sanctioned events (see review 6).

What pros play, and when we read it

These are the pro-use facts behind the picks, each with its source and date. Makers’ signature-pro and team listings reflect paid sponsorships, and phrases such as “paddle of choice” or “official shape” are the sponsoring maker’s wording, so each is attributed where it appears. Treat them as a snapshot: pickleball.com’s list is stamped September 17, 2026 and shows no later update, and the makers’ pages were read on 2026-10-21.

  • Ben Johns, JOOLA Perseus Pro V 16mm. JOOLA’s product page (read 2026-10-21) lists Ben Johns and Simone Jardim as the signature pros and, in JOOLA’s wording, calls it Johns’s paddle of choice, with his edition in Blaze Red. pickleball.com (September 17, 2026) says he “continues to play with JOOLA and is currently using the Perseus Pro V 16mm”.
  • Anna Bright, JOOLA Scorpeus Pro V 14mm. JOOLA’s page names Anna Bright and Collin Johns as the signature pros and gives Anna’s 14mm build 8.0 oz with a 4.125 in grip; pickleball.com (September 17, 2026) lists her paddle as the Scorpeus Pro V 14mm.
  • Federico Staksrud, JOOLA Kosmos Pro V 16mm. JOOLA’s page calls the 16mm his first signature paddle; pickleball.com (September 17, 2026) says he is using the Kosmos Pro V 16mm.
  • Anna Leigh Waters, Franklin C45 Aurelius. Franklin’s series page (read 2026-10-21) says, in the sponsor’s words, that the paddle has “the official shape” of Anna Leigh Waters. The sources disagree about what she plays in matches: Regan Family Pickleball‘s August 15, 2026 roster says “As of her 2026 switch, Anna Leigh Waters plays the Franklin Aurelius, her signature paddle under a multi-year Franklin deal.”; Pickleball Studio (April 8, 2026) says she “has been recently using the original C45 Hybrid as well as the Dynasty”; FORWRD (July 14, 2026) answers “no, not exactly” to whether she uses the retail paddle; pickleball.com (September 17, 2026) lists the Aurelius 14mm for her but adds that “her latest Franklin paddle is still unreleased”.
  • Hayden Patriquin, Franklin C45 Dynasty. pickleball.com (September 17, 2026) says he “plays with his own edition of the C45 Dynasty 16mm”. The USA Pickleball list carries that edition as a separate entry from the plain Dynasty we link.
  • Christian Alshon, Paddletek Honeyfoam TKO-X. pickleball.com (September 17, 2026) says he “has represented Paddletek since January 31, 2024 and is currently competing with the Honeyfoam TKO-X” and lists the 16mm. Regan Family Pickleball‘s August 15, 2026 roster lists his paddle as “Bantam / signature”, and its Alshon page (August 17, 2026) says “Christian Alshon plays the Paddletek Bantam TKO-CX (12.7mm)”. The two outlets name different Paddletek models.
  • Tyra Black, PIKKL Hurricane Pro 14mm. Pickleball Effect’s PIKKL brand guide (July 11, 2024) calls the 14mm “the signature paddle of Hurricane Tyra Black and is the paddle she uses”; pickleball.com (September 17, 2026) still lists the Hurricane Pro 14mm for her. Paddletek’s June 25, 2026 announcement says it has announced the acquisition of PIKKL and the signing of “JW Johnson, Jorja Johnson, Julie Johnson and Hurricane Tyra Black” to Team Paddletek.
  • Andrei Daescu, CRBN TruFoam Barrage. The Dink (February 28, 2026) published a photo of him swinging the new Barrage and said he had been testing CRBN models; CRBN’s pro-team page (read 2026-10-21) lists him; pickleball.com (September 17, 2026) lists the “CRBN1 TruFoam Barrage 14mm” for him.

How we chose these pro-level paddles

How this guide was built

built from manufacturer spec pages, the USA Pickleball approved-paddle list, published reviews by Pickleball Effect, Pickleball Studio, Pickleheads and FORWRD, and dated pro-roster reports from pickleball.com, The Dink and Regan Family Pickleball; we have not tested these paddles ourselves.

What a paddle had to show

  • A named pro and a dated source. A pro’s use counts as a fact here only when a named outlet or the maker’s own page states it, and every such claim carries its date. Sponsorships change, so none of them is a standing fact.
  • Stocked on Amazon. Each pick is a New offer in stock on Amazon, at or below the maker’s list price. Several paddles on the pro lists, such as the Luzz Glider and the Friday Aura Pro, were not usable picks: the Glider did not turn up on Amazon, and the Aura Pro’s Amazon listing was a single-unit third-party offer under a different shape name when we checked.
  • The exact variant. The linked thickness and shape match the one the source names wherever possible. Where they do not, the review says what differs.
  • A checkable approval status. We searched the USA Pickleball list by brand and model on 2026-10-21 and quote what it showed.
  • Distinct roles. Three JOOLA picks are three shapes of one series, each with a different named pro; the other five picks come from four other makers (Franklin has two, in different shapes with different pros), and PIKKL is now owned by Paddletek, per Paddletek’s June 25, 2026 announcement.
Where the figures come from

Where the figures come from

Weights, dimensions and core thickness are the makers’ own figures; a reviewer’s or retailer’s figure is used only where the maker publishes none, and is labelled. Pickleball Effect measures spin with a radar gun and describes its database average as roughly 2,000 RPM; its numbers do not transfer to other testers. Pickleball Studio, Pickleheads and FORWRD describe on-court play. Some of these outlets earn affiliate commissions or received units from makers, and the reviews say so where we know. Pickleball Effect’s PIKKL guide carries a PIKKL discount code (PBEFFECT) for readers.

JOOLA Pro V Pickleball Paddle - 14mm/16mm - Raw Carbon…

JOOLA Perseus Pro V 16mm

16mm · Textured carbon fiber

Experienced players who generate their own pace and want JOOLA's elongated shape with a softer feel.

$299.95 from AmazonAs of Oct 23, 22:56 UTC

Verdict

JOOLA’s most popular shape, per JOOLA, built for players who bring their own power, with a softer and more predictable feel than the Pro IV that came before it.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, exact model. Pickleball Studio: Perseus Pro V 16mm (JOOLA supplied the unit); also Kosmos 16mm and Scorpeus 16mm and 14mm.

JOOLA’s product page says the Perseus is its most popular shape and that Ben Johns’s edition is the one we link, in Blaze Red with a 4.25 in grip. Pickleball Effect tested the 16mm and found power that “scales with your swing” at 56.4 MPH, spin of 2,060 RPM and a feel softer than the Pro IV’s. Its bottom line is conditional: buy it “if you generate your own power”, pass if you rely on the paddle for free power, because the Pro IV gives more built-in pop. In its 2026 Pro V review the same site says the Pro V “amplifies what you bring. It doesn’t manufacture it.”

Not every tester is sold. Pickleball Studio, whose reviewer says JOOLA supplied the Perseus unit and who spent most of the review time on the 16mm Perseus, wrote: “This might be the first time that I recommend most people buy the older model over the new one.” Pickleball Effect rates the raw carbon face Tier 4 for grit durability, and Pickleball Studio notes the Pro V adds no longer-lasting grit.

For the earlier Perseus Pro IV and how its spin compares, see our best spin pickleball paddles guide.

Specs (JOOLA Perseus Pro V, 16mm, elongated, Blaze Red)

  • Core: 16 mm, polypropylene core with carbon fiber and EVA foam (JOOLA)
  • Weight: 8.1 oz average for the 16mm (JOOLA); 7.95 oz on Pickleball Effect’s test unit
  • Face: textured carbon fiber (JOOLA)
  • Size: 16.5 x 7.5 in; handle 5.5 in; grip circumference 4.25 in (JOOLA, “may vary slightly”)
  • Swingweight 117, twistweight 6.26 (Pickleball Effect’s test unit)
  • Spin: 2,060 RPM (Pickleball Effect radar test)
  • Approval: USA Pickleball list, “Perseus Pro V 16mm”, added 2025-10-01; UPA-A (JOOLA)

Pros

  • Elongated shape that JOOLA describes as extending reach while keeping the sweet spot centered
  • Power that Pickleball Effect says scales with swing speed
  • Softer, more consistent response than the Pro IV, per Pickleball Effect

Cons

  • Raw carbon face that Pickleball Effect rates Tier 4 for durability, so it wears like standard raw carbon
  • Less built-in pop than the Pro IV, per Pickleball Effect
  • Pickleball Studio would steer most buyers to the older model instead

Who should buy it

Experienced players who generate their own pace and want JOOLA’s elongated shape with a softer feel.

$299.95 from AmazonAs of Oct 23, 22:56 UTC

Verdict

Per JOOLA, the widest paddle in the Pro V line, in the 14 mm build JOOLA lists for Anna Bright, for players who value a large sweet spot and quick hands.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, exact model. Pickleball Studio: Scorpeus Pro V 14mm and 16mm, Perseus 16mm, Kosmos 16mm.

JOOLA’s Scorpeus page calls it its “widest and most forgiving paddle shape” and the shortest in the Pro V line, and names Anna Bright and Collin Johns as its signature pros. Anna’s 14mm build is 8.0 oz with a 4.125 in grip; JOOLA Yellow is her colour. Amazon labels this listing “14mm – Standard Grip” but its own bullet gives a 4.125 in grip, matching JOOLA’s figure for Anna’s paddle, so we treat it as that build.

Pickleball Studio tested the Scorpeus in 16mm and 14mm (the reviewer bought them himself). It describes widebody paddles like the Scorpeus as having very large sweet spots and fast hands but less reach and plow-through, and finds the 14mm “quite stiff” next to the 16mm, with a noticeable drop in sweet spot size without added weight. Its general advice is to choose the 16mm Pro V unless you know you prefer 14mm paddles; that is a reason to read the Scorpeus 16mm too if you are not copying Anna Bright’s build. Our guide to 14 mm versus 16 mm paddles covers the trade-off.

Specs (JOOLA Scorpeus Pro V, 14mm, widebody, JOOLA Yellow)

  • Core: 14 mm, polypropylene core with carbon fiber and EVA foam (JOOLA)
  • Weight: 8.0 oz for Anna Bright’s 14mm (JOOLA); 7.8 oz on Pickleball Effect’s test unit
  • Face: textured carbon fiber (JOOLA)
  • Size: 16 x 8 in; handle 5.25 in; grip circumference 4.125 in (JOOLA, Anna Bright’s edition)
  • Swingweight 107, twistweight 6.84 (Pickleball Effect’s test unit)
  • Approval: USA Pickleball list, “Scorpeus Pro V 14mm”, added 2025-11-11; UPA-A (JOOLA)

Pros

  • JOOLA’s widest face, which it says expands the sweet spot for blocks, resets and counters
  • Fast in the hand for its size, per Pickleball Studio
  • Dual-approved line: JOOLA lists USAP and UPA-A certification

Cons

  • 14 mm core that Pickleball Studio found stiff, with a smaller sweet spot without added weight
  • Less reach than elongated shapes, per Pickleball Studio
  • Raw carbon face; Pickleball Effect rates the Perseus and Kosmos faces in the Pro V line Tier 4 for durability

Who should buy it

Doubles players who want a wide face and a thin core and are willing to add weight to tune it.

JOOLA Kosmos Pro V 16mm

16mm · Textured carbon fiber

Players who want a Pro V between the Perseus's reach and the Scorpeus's width.

$299.95 from AmazonAs of Oct 23, 22:56 UTC

Verdict

JOOLA’s first hybrid shape, in the 16mm Federico Staksrud build, with a shorter handle and a moderate swing weight.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, exact model. Pickleball Studio: Kosmos Pro V 16mm (JOOLA supplied the unit); also Perseus 16mm and Scorpeus 16mm and 14mm.

JOOLA’s Kosmos page lists Federico Staksrud and Tyson McGuffin as its pros and calls the 16mm his first signature paddle; JOOLA says his 16mm (8.1 oz, 4.25 in grip) “offers maximum control for patient, defensive players”. The Surge Green colour we link is his edition on JOOLA’s page. Pickleball Effect calls the Kosmos “the most balanced option in the Pro V series” and the shape it would point most players toward within the line, with a 114 swing weight and a 6.68 twist weight; it also notes the 5.25 in handle is shorter than the rest of the line.

Pickleball Studio is more mixed: its reviewer says he did not get along with the Pro V at first, that the Kosmos 16mm was the paddle he swapped out of a tournament, and that the line softens with play. JOOLA supplied that Kosmos unit.

Specs (JOOLA Kosmos Pro V, 16mm, hybrid, Surge Green)

  • Core: 16 mm (JOOLA does not describe the construction on this page; Pickleball Effect says the Pro V core is the Pro IV’s)
  • Weight: 8.1 oz for the 16mm (JOOLA); 8 oz static on Pickleball Effect’s test unit
  • Face: textured carbon fiber (JOOLA)
  • Size: 16.3 x 7.7 in; handle 5.25 in; grip circumference 4.25 in (JOOLA, “may vary slightly”)
  • Swingweight 114, twistweight 6.68 (Pickleball Effect’s test unit)
  • Spin: 2,057 RPM (Pickleball Effect radar test)
  • Approval: USA Pickleball list, “Kosmos Pro V 16mm”, added 2025-11-11; Pickleball Effect says it is approved by USA Pickleball and UPA-A

Pros

  • Hybrid shape between widebody and elongated, which Pickleball Effect rates the most balanced in the line
  • Moderate 114 swing weight and a 6.68 twist weight in Pickleball Effect’s measurements
  • Approved by both USA Pickleball and UPA-A, per Pickleball Effect and the USAP list

Cons

  • Break-in: Pickleball Studio found it stiff at first before it softened
  • Shorter 5.25 in handle than the rest of the line, per Pickleball Effect
  • Raw carbon face rated Tier 4 for durability by Pickleball Effect

Who should buy it

Players who want a Pro V between the Perseus’s reach and the Scorpeus’s width.

Franklin Sports PRO Pickleball Paddles – C45 Carbon Fiber…

Franklin C45 Aurelius 14mm

14mm · T700 carbon

Players who want fast hands, are comfortable adding lead tape, and like a short handle and small grip.

$229.99 from AmazonAs of Oct 24, 00:42 UTC

Verdict

A short, light paddle that Franklin sells as Anna Leigh Waters’s signature shape, which testers say needs added weight to play at its best.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, exact model. FORWRD: C45 Aurelius 14mm.

Franklin’s series page, the sponsor’s own page, says the C45 Aurelius “features the official shape of pro pickleball phenom Anna Leigh Waters”. The pro-use record is mixed (see the dated list above): Regan Family Pickleball says she plays the Aurelius; Pickleball Studio said in April 2026 that she had been using other C45 paddles, FORWRD said in July 2026 that she does not play the retail Aurelius exactly, and pickleball.com’s September 2026 list names the Aurelius 14mm for her while noting her latest paddle is unreleased. Treat it as a paddle designed with her input, not necessarily the one she plays in matches.

FORWRD tested the 14mm for eight hours of play. It found the shorter 15.7 in length makes the paddle faster in the hand, called power “the honest weakness”, and said lead tape fixes some of that. It also notes the 5.1 in handle is among the shortest in its class, and Pickleheads says the 5.1 in handle and 3.9 in grip are very small and will polarize players who prefer longer, thicker setups. Pickleball Studio reviewed the 12.7mm version, not this one, and found it did not play well without added weight; that finding is for the thinner core, but both reviewers point to lead tape as part of setting the paddle up. Our guide to lead tape explains the common options.

Specs (Franklin C45 Aurelius, 14mm)

  • Core: 14 mm PowerFlex polymer core with an inner foam layer (Franklin)
  • Weight: 7.5–8.0 oz (Franklin); FORWRD gives 7.5–8.0 oz, 7.75 oz average, for the 14mm
  • Face: T700 carbon fiber with a 45-degree peel-ply texture (Franklin)
  • Size: 15.7 x 7.9 in; handle 5.1 in; handle circumference 3.9 in (Franklin)
  • Approval: USA Pickleball list, “C45 Aurelius 14MM”, added 2026-03-05; Franklin says USAP/UPA approved

Pros

  • Short 15.7 in length that FORWRD says makes the paddle faster in the hand
  • Spin that FORWRD rated above the midpoint for textured carbon, on its own on-court comparison
  • Built to be customised with lead tape, per FORWRD

Cons

  • Power that FORWRD calls its honest weakness
  • Short 5.1 in handle and 3.9 in grip circumference, which Pickleheads says will polarize players
  • FORWRD saw minor smoothing in the center of the face after eight hours of outdoor play, with no significant grip loss

Who should buy it

Players who want fast hands, are comfortable adding lead tape, and like a short handle and small grip.

16mm · T700 carbon

Players who want an elongated Franklin and are not set on a pro's own edition.

$229.99 from AmazonAs of Oct 23, 23:39 UTC

Verdict

The standard elongated Dynasty, not Hayden Patriquin’s own edition, for players who want Franklin’s pro-line shape in a 16 mm core.

Evidence: Retailer review (sells it), not independent. The Kitchen Pickle (sells the paddle): C45 Dynasty, 14 and 16 mm not separated.

pickleball.com (September 17, 2026) says Hayden Patriquin “plays with his own edition of the C45 Dynasty 16mm”. The USA Pickleball list shows “C45 Dynasty Hayden Patriquin Edition 16MM” and the plain “C45 Dynasty 16MM” as separate entries, and the paddle we link is the plain Dynasty in Electric Red. The sources we read do not say how the edition differs from the standard paddle, so we cannot say whether it plays the same. Franklin’s own Patriquin 16mm edition is also listed on Amazon (B0FS12K49S), but it showed as out of stock when we checked on 2026-10-21, so it is not a pick. pickleball.com’s list says Sofia Sewing was playing with the Franklin C45 Dynasty 16mm, the plain version, before being spotted with Waters’s unreleased paddle. Pickleball Studio’s April 2026 first-impressions review also says Anna Leigh Waters had been using the Dynasty recently.

The Kitchen Pickle, a retailer that sells the paddle and so not an independent test, writes that “the elongated shape of the Dynasty paddles allows players to generate more power and spin, which also makes this paddle a great option for singles players”. Its review covers the Dynasty in 14 and 16 mm together. FORWRD’s Aurelius review names the Dynasty as the power-leaning C45 for players who win points with heavy shots.

Specs (Franklin C45 Dynasty, 16mm, elongated)

  • Core: 16 mm PowerFlex polymer core (Franklin)
  • Weight: 7.6–8.0 oz (Franklin)
  • Face: T700 carbon fiber with a 45-degree peel-ply texture (Franklin Amazon listing)
  • Size: 16.4 x 7.6 in; handle 5.6 in; handle circumference 4.3 in (Franklin’s Red White & Blue Dynasty page); Amazon’s detail table lists a 4 1/8 in grip
  • Approval: USA Pickleball list, “C45 Dynasty 16MM”, added 2025-04-17; Franklin says USAP/UPA approved

Pros

  • Elongated shape and 16 mm core from Franklin’s C45 line
  • Reach and power that The Kitchen Pickle, a retailer, credits to the elongated shape
  • Plain Dynasty listed by USA Pickleball for 16mm

Cons

  • Not Patriquin’s edition; the difference is not stated in the sources we read
  • No independent test of this exact paddle in the sources we found
  • Two grip figures from Franklin’s own listings (4.3 in and 4 1/8 in)

Who should buy it

Players who want an elongated Franklin and are not set on a pro’s own edition.

$99.99 from AmazonAs of Oct 24, 03:26 UTC

Verdict

An elongated foam-core paddle that pickleball.com lists for Christian Alshon, whose independent test covers the 14mm, not this 16mm.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, same series. Pickleheads: Honeyfoam TKO-X 14mm.

pickleball.com (September 17, 2026) lists the Honeyfoam TKO-X 16mm for Alshon. Regan Family Pickleball’s August 2026 roster lists his paddle as “Bantam / signature” and its Alshon page says he plays the Paddletek Bantam TKO-CX (12.7mm), so the record is not unanimous. Paddletek’s page sells it in 14 and 16 mm, describes a three-foam core, and notes that the 14mm carries a UPA sticker because it is not USA Pickleball approved; only the 16mm is on the USA Pickleball list.

Pickleheads tested the 14 mm (the reviewer wrote that it “comes in 16 mm too”). It calls the paddle “an exceptional all-court weapon”, rates control 8.5/10, and says pure power players may find its response soft; it also noted slight deadness near the upper edge on off-center blocks and suggested lead tape. Those findings are for the 14mm, so read them as a guide to the family rather than this thickness. Paddletek’s page does not publish a 16mm weight; its spec block shows the 14mm at 8.0 oz.

The buy-box seller is Paddletek itself, shipping from Amazon.

PIKKL Hurricane Pro 14mm

Control-minded players who want a wide, light 14 mm paddle and will add lead tape.

Verdict

A light, wide, thermoformed paddle that Pickleball Effect calls Hurricane Tyra Black’s signature in a 2024 guide, aimed at control with some pop.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, exact model. Pickleball Effect: Hurricane Pro 14mm.

Pickleball Effect’s PIKKL guide (July 11, 2024) says the Hurricane Pro 14mm “is the signature paddle of Hurricane Tyra Black and is the paddle she uses”; pickleball.com’s September 17, 2026 list also names it for her, and PIKKL’s product page offers the 14mm as the “Hurricane Pro Tyra Black Edition 14mm”. Since then, Paddletek announced on June 25, 2026 that it is acquiring PIKKL and has signed Tyra Black to Team Paddletek, per its announcement. The guide’s reviewer calls the 14mm the one that stood out most in PIKKL’s line: a “standard shape” (our table and role label it widebody, from its 16 x 8 in dimensions) with good forgiveness for a 14mm, a softer feel than many 14mm paddles, an average 7.8 oz and a 108 swing weight, and it says the paddle needs added weight for plow-through. Without weight he calls it a control paddle; with weight, “flirting with the all-court category”.

Pickleheads (October 2024) reviewed the Hurricane Pro without naming the thickness it tested; it found moderate power, a great defensive paddle, and a square shape that took some adjustment on overheads. PIKKL’s page lists a 4.25 in grip circumference and Pickleheads lists 4.12 in.

The buy-box seller is PaddlePro, a third-party seller that ships its own stock; PIKKL’s contact and about pages do not mention it, so we cannot confirm a relationship with the maker.

Specs (PIKKL Hurricane Pro, 14mm, widebody)

  • Core: 14 mm polypropylene honeycomb with PUR-Cell foam perimeter (PIKKL)
  • Weight: 7.76 oz average (PIKKL); 7.8 oz on Pickleball Effect’s test unit
  • Face: T700 raw carbon fiber (PIKKL)
  • Size: 16 x 8 in; handle 5.5 in; grip circumference 4.25 in (PIKKL; Pickleheads lists 4.12 in)
  • Swingweight 108 (Pickleball Effect’s test unit)
  • Approval: USA Pickleball list, “HurricanePro 14mm”, added 2023-10-23

Pros

  • Light widebody build with a forgiving sweet spot for a 14 mm, per Pickleball Effect
  • Softer feel than many 14 mm paddles, per Pickleball Effect
  • Listed by USA Pickleball for the 14mm

Cons

  • Needs added weight for plow-through, per Pickleball Effect
  • Less power and reach than the maker’s own Vantage Pro, per Pickleball Effect’s brand guide
  • Sold on Amazon by a third-party seller we could not link to the maker

CRBN TruFoam Barrage CRBN1 14mm

14mm · T700 raw carbon

Aggressive players at 4.0 and above who want a foam core and are happy to add lead tape.

$229.99 from AmazonAs of Oct 24, 03:26 UTC

Verdict

CRBN’s elongated long-handle Barrage, the foam-core paddle pickleball.com lists for Andrei Daescu, for aggressive players who want power with a plush feel.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, same series. Pickleheads: Barrage 2 (square) and 4 (hybrid); did not play the elongated 1 or 3.

pickleball.com (September 17, 2026) lists the “CRBN1 TruFoam Barrage 14mm” for Andrei Daescu; The Dink (February 28, 2026) reported a photo of him swinging the new Barrage before the launch, saying it had asked CRBN and Proton for confirmation, and CRBN’s pro-team page (read 2026-10-21) lists him. Pickleheads (March 20, 2026) reviewed the Barrage, writing that CRBN “finally nailed the combo of power, control, and forgiveness”, and recommended it mostly for 4.0 and above players; the reviewer added weight to stabilise the paddle. Pickleheads’ reviewer writes “I haven’t played with the elongated models (1 and 3), but the square and hybrid shapes (2 and 4) are incredibly fast”, so the Barrage 2 (square) and 4 (hybrid) were played and the elongated Barrage 1 we link was not. That review is therefore graded as the same series, not this exact shape.

CRBN’s Barrage page describes a 100% TruFoam floating core and lists USAP (+PBCoR 43) and UPA-A approval; the USA Pickleball list shows “TRUFOAM BARRAGE 1” added 2026-03-03. CRBN’s own Amazon listing (seller CRBN) is titled “TruFoam Barrage 1 Pickleball Elongated Paddle (14mm Thick)” and gives 16.5 x 7.5 in; Pickleheads’ table gives the Barrage 1 a 7.35 in width. We show both and do not know the reason for the difference. pickleball.com’s “14mm” for Daescu agrees with the Amazon title.

Specs (CRBN TruFoam Barrage CRBN1, elongated, long handle)

  • Core: 14 mm TruFoam 100% foam floating core (CRBN’s Amazon listing title, “14mm Thick”)
  • Weight: 7.9–8 oz (Pickleheads’ table for the Barrage line)
  • Face: T700 raw carbon fiber (CRBN, Pickleheads)
  • Size: 16.5 x 7.5 in (CRBN’s Amazon listing) or 7.35 in wide (Pickleheads’ table for model 1); handle 5.75 in; grip circumference 4.125 in (Pickleheads’ table for model 1)
  • Approval: USA Pickleball list, “TRUFOAM BARRAGE 1”, added 2026-03-03; CRBN says USAP and UPA-A approved

Pros

  • 100% foam floating core that CRBN says is tuned for pop and energy return
  • Power and spin that Pickleheads’ reviewer praised on the square and hybrid shapes (2 and 4), with a plush, controllable feel; the elongated 1 we link was not played
  • Listed by USA Pickleball and, per CRBN, UPA-A approved

Cons

  • Light and prone to twisting without lead tape, per Pickleheads
  • Pickleheads did not play the elongated Barrage 1 or 3, so the praise is for sibling shapes
  • Long 5.75 in handle, per Pickleheads’ table, which not every player wants

What a pro’s paddle tells you, and what it doesn’t

Pros play different paddles

By pickleball.com’s September 17, 2026 count, JOOLA has five of the top 20 pros, Franklin and PIKKL three each and Luzz two, and the rest are spread across other brands; it says no single manufacturer dominates. Pickleheads goes further on the JOOLA Pro V, saying more top pros use that series than any other, so three JOOLA shapes appear here with three different players.

Thickness is a choice, not a ranking

Among the eight pros named in the dated list above, pickleball.com lists 16mm paddles for four (Johns, Staksrud, Alshon, Patriquin) and 14mm for three (Bright, Black, Daescu); its table also lists the Aurelius 14mm for Waters, though it says she competes with an unreleased paddle, so we do not count her. That split is one outlet’s list, not a rule. Pickleball Studio’s 2026 reviewer favoured the 16mm for most Pro V buyers. Our guide to 14 mm versus 16 mm paddles goes through the trade-off.

Copying a pro is a starting point

Regan Family Pickleball‘s August 2026 guide says that is not automatic: “Pro paddles are tuned for elite power and spin and may be too demanding for a developing player.” Pickleball Effect makes a related point about the Pro V: it “amplifies what you bring”. If you are shopping for a first or a budget paddle, start with our beginner paddle and budget paddle guides, and our spin paddle guide covers surface wear in detail. If power is what you want, see our power paddle guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What paddle do most pros use?

No single paddle. pickleball.com’s September 17, 2026 list puts five of the top 20 on JOOLA, three on Franklin, three on PIKKL and two on Luzz, with the rest spread across other brands. Pickleheads says the JOOLA Pro V series is the one used by more top pros than any other.

Q. Do pros use 14mm or 16mm paddles?

Both. In pickleball.com’s September 17, 2026 list, Ben Johns, Federico Staksrud, Christian Alshon and Hayden Patriquin are on 16mm paddles and Anna Bright, Tyra Black and Andrei Daescu on 14mm; the same list names the Aurelius 14mm for Anna Leigh Waters but says she competes with an unreleased paddle. Pickleball Studio’s reviewer preferred the 16mm Pro V models for forgiveness.

Q. Should I play the same paddle as a pro?

Not automatically. Regan Family Pickleball says pro paddles are tuned for elite power and spin and may be too demanding for a developing player, and Pickleball Effect says the Pro V amplifies what you bring. Use a pro’s choice as a starting point, then match shape, core and weight to your own game.

Q. Are pro paddles legal for tournaments?

Check the approved list for your exact model and thickness. All eight of our picks were on the USA Pickleball list under their own model names when we searched on 2026-10-21; the Paddletek TKO-X is listed only in 16mm, and Paddletek says the 14mm is UPA-approved but not USAP-approved.

Q. Does a pro’s paddle ever differ from the one I can buy?

Sometimes. pickleball.com says Anna Leigh Waters’s latest Franklin paddle is unreleased and that Hayden Patriquin plays his own edition of the Dynasty, which the USA Pickleball list carries separately. Makers’ pro editions can also differ in weight or grip, as Ben Johns’s Perseus (4.25 in grip) and Simone Jardim’s (4.125 in) do, per JOOLA’s page.

Q. Where does the best overall paddle fit?

If you want the broadest list, not just pro-played paddles, see our best pickleball paddles guide.

The bottom line

Final Verdict

For players who bring their own pace, the JOOLA Perseus Pro V (check price) is the pro-line elongated paddle, with the caveat that Pickleball Studio would steer most buyers to the older model. The Scorpeus and Kosmos offer the same series in widebody and hybrid shapes. Franklin’s Aurelius suits players who want a short, light paddle and will add weight; the Dynasty is the plain version of the line Hayden Patriquin plays in his own edition. The Paddletek TKO-X is the foam-core option with an approved 16mm build, and the PIKKL Hurricane Pro (check price) is the lighter widebody control paddle. The CRBN Barrage is the foam-core power pick.

Whichever you choose, treat a pro’s name as a dated fact about a sponsorship, not a promise about your game, and check the approved list for your exact model before a sanctioned event.
