Best Elongated Pickleball Paddles: 9 Picks Compared

The short answer

The JOOLA Perseus Pro IV 16mm is the elongated that Pickleball Effect says feels jumpier than the 14mm, with easier access to power; the Selkirk SLK ERA Power Elongated is the honeycomb-core elongated whose swing weight and twist weight Pickleball Effect calls balanced and solid; and the JOOLA Hyperion CFS 16mm is the elongated that Pickleball Effect’s 2022 review lists as “Very forgiving for an elongated paddle”.

Our verdict

Our Top Picks

“Elongated” is a shape label, and sources draw its edges differently. Pickleball Effect’s paddle-choosing guide says elongated paddles “typically measure 16.5” x 7.5””, the makers below list lengths and widths of their own, and one maker, JOOLA, describes its Hyperion as “elongated with aero-curve”. This guide gathers nine paddles stocked on Amazon whose makers’ own pages name the shape elongated, and it keeps each claim with its source, its date and the exact shape and thickness that source covers.

Shape is only one choice. For the overall list across every shape, see our guide to the best pickleball paddles; for paddles chosen for pace, the best power pickleball paddles; for paddles chosen for touch, the best control pickleball paddles. This guide is elongated only.

Every row is the exact variant we link. Core and weight lead the table; the figures are the makers’ own unless a source is named. “USA Pickleball” is what the approved-paddle list showed for that model on 2026-10-22, with the date the list gives for the entry. What “elongated” means, and where the sources differ

Four things stand out when the shape pages are read side by side. Each is described where the paddle is reviewed; here they are in one place.

  • The definition is a typical size, not a rule. Pickleball Effect’s glossary on its Perseus Pro IV review says: “Elongated: The dimensions for an elongated paddle are 16.5″ x 7.5″.” and, as a less common shape, “Extra-Elongated: This shape is 17″ x 7″”. All nine makers below list 16.5 in for the paddle length. Their widths differ: 7.375 in for the Loco and the GBX Power (Gearbox writes 7 3/8″), 7.45 in for the SLK ERA Power, and 7.5 in for the others.
  • A maker’s shape name can carry extra words. JOOLA’s Hyperion page says “Shape: Hyperion (elongated with aero-curve)” and its spec list says “Class: Elongated”. JOOLA’s Perseus page says “Shape: Perseus (elongated)”. We treat both as the maker naming the shape elongated and quote the wording.
  • Handle length is not part of the shape name. The listed handles run from 5.5 in to 5.8 in on a 16.5 in head. Selkirk lists 5.8 in for the ERA’s elongated and Pickleball Effect lists 5.75 in; Paddletek lists 5.75 in for the TKO-CX, the version of the Bantam with the longer handle.
  • Testers’ lab figures differ from the makers’ and from each other. The reviews give the differences where a maker and a tester both publish a figure (the ERA’s twist weight, the Loco’s twist weight).

Why these nine paddles made the list

How this guide was built

built from manufacturer spec pages, the USA Pickleball approved-paddle list, and published reviews by Pickleball Effect and Pickleheads, plus one creator’s report from BePickleballer and the makers’ own pages for one paddle; we have not tested these paddles ourselves.

What a paddle had to show

  • The maker’s own page names the shape elongated. Every pick’s maker page calls this paddle elongated, in the product name, the spec list or the shape selector. We did not use a tester’s or retailer’s label alone.
  • Stocked on Amazon. Each pick is a New offer in stock on Amazon on 2026-10-22, at or below the maker’s regular price where the maker publishes one. Two paddles that a retailer’s elongated list names were not usable: the Selkirk LABS Boomstik Elongated showed only a future availability date on its Amazon offers, and the Engage Pursuit Alpha Pro 16mm elongated had an Amazon offer from a seller we could not match to a maker page (so its specs and list price could not be checked). The retailer is Pickleball Nation, whose September 18, 2025 article lists both; it sells paddles, so we use it only for that list.
  • The exact variant. Thickness, shape, handle and colour match the Amazon listing we link, and each review says which shape and thickness the source covered. Several of these paddles come in other shapes (the SLK ERA Power, the Loco, the GBX Power, the Barrage and the Aero are each sold in more than one), so each link is the elongated variant.
  • A checkable approval status. We searched the USA Pickleball list by brand and model on 2026-10-22 and quote what it showed, including the entry’s added date.
  • Distinct roles. The nine picks are eight brands: JOOLA twice (the Perseus and the Hyperion are different paddles), and Selkirk, Bread & Butter, Paddletek, CRBN, Gearbox, Holbrook and Onix once each.
Where the figures come from

Where the figures come from

Weights, dimensions and core thickness are the makers’ own figures; where a maker publishes none, or where a tester’s unit differs, both are shown and labelled. Pickleball Effect measures swing weight and twist weight on its own equipment; Pickleheads rates paddles out of 10 after on-court play. Some of these sources earn money or take codes from the brands, which their own pages say: Pickleheads says “If you buy through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission.”; Pickleball Effect’s Perseus and Loco pages say the brands sent the paddles and that the articles are not sponsored, its Loco page links to the maker with a discount code and its Bantam page links to Pickleball Central with a discount; BePickleballer says Holbrook gave it a referral code and “I get a few dollars if you purchase this paddle through the link.”

Elongated · 16 mm

Players who want a 16mm elongated JOOLA that a tester measured and that is on the USA Pickleball list.

$149.95 from AmazonAs of Oct 24, 01:28 UTC

Verdict

The elongated Perseus that Pickleball Effect measured at 16mm and says feels jumpier than the 14mm, with easier access to power, for players who want a JOOLA elongated with a 5.5 in handle, which JOOLA lists as USAP and UPA-A certified.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, exact model. Pickleball Effect: Perseus Pro IV 16mm and 14mm (JOOLA sent the paddles).

Pickleball Effect (page metadata dated March 4, 2025; read 2026-10-22) compared the Perseus Pro IV with the Perseus 3S and tested both thicknesses. Its 16mm card lists a static weight of 8.1 oz, a swing weight of 118, a twist weight of 6.29, 1,971 RPM of spin and a 16.5 x 7.5 in size marked “(elongated)”. It writes: “Comparing the 16mm to the 14mm, the 16mm feels jumpier and has easier access to power.” It adds: “This makes the 16mm more offensive overall but also trickier to control.” Of the Pro IV paddles in general it says: “Generally speaking, these paddles offer good forgiveness compared to other elongated shapes on the market.” The page says: “I would like to thank JOOLA for sending me these paddles; however, this article is not sponsored by them.”

JOOLA’s own page names the shape: “Shape: Perseus (elongated)”. It lists an 8.1 oz average weight, a 16.5 x 7.5 in size, a 5.5 in grip length and a 4.25 in grip circumference, and it calls the paddle “UPA-A pro certified and USAP PBCoR .43 certified”. JOOLA publishes no swing weight or twist weight, so those two figures are Pickleball Effect’s. The USA Pickleball list carries “Perseus IV 16mm”, added 2024-11-26. Amazon showed the 16mm Perseus listing in stock, sold by Amazon.com.

Specs (JOOLA Perseus Pro IV, 16mm, “Perseus” listing)

  • Core: 16 mm; polypropylene core with EVA foam wall (JOOLA)
  • Weight: 8.1 oz average (JOOLA)
  • Face: textured carbon fiber (JOOLA lists “Textured CF”)
  • Size: 16.5 x 7.5 in; handle 5.5 in; grip circumference 4.25 in (JOOLA)
  • Swing weight 118, twist weight 6.29 (Pickleball Effect)
  • Approval: USA Pickleball list, “Perseus IV 16mm”, added 2024-11-26 (read 2026-10-22); JOOLA also lists UPA-A

Pros

  • 16mm elongated that Pickleball Effect says feels jumpier than the 14mm, with easier access to power
  • Pickleball Effect says the Pro IV paddles offer good forgiveness compared with other elongated shapes
  • Listed by USA Pickleball and sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • Pickleball Effect says the 16mm is trickier to control than the 14mm
  • JOOLA publishes no swing weight or twist weight, so those figures rest on one tester’s unit
  • The “good forgiveness” remark covers the Pro IV paddles as a group, not the 16mm alone

Selkirk SLK ERA Power Elongated

Elongated · 16 mm polypropylene honeycomb

Players who want an elongated with a honeycomb core and a 5.8 in listed grip length, and who bring their own pace.

$199.99 from AmazonAs of Oct 23, 22:57 UTC

Verdict

The honeycomb-core elongated whose swing weight and twist weight Pickleball Effect calls balanced and solid, for players who want a Selkirk elongated listed with a 5.8 in grip length and a one-year warranty.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, exact model. Pickleball Effect: SLK ERA Power Elongated.

Pickleball Effect (paddle page for this shape, read 2026-10-22) writes: “The elongated version pairs a balanced swing weight with solid twist weight, giving it the handling and stability elongated paddle players expect.” Its measured unit had a static weight of 8 oz, a swing weight of 117 and a twist weight of 6.28, and it says: “At a 117 swing weight, the Elongated sits just below average for its shape, making it easier to maneuver without sacrificing too much plow-through.” On stability it adds: “Its 6.28 twist weight is above average for an elongated paddle, providing solid stability, though the Widebody remains more forgiving on mishits.” It files the paddle as All-Court, “with the drive slightly ahead of the pop, so the offense comes on a full swing rather than at the net”, and it grades the raw surface Tier 4 for grit durability.

Selkirk’s page lists the elongated figures separately from the widebody’s: an average weight of 7.9–8.4 oz, a 5.8 in grip length, a 4.25 in grip circumference, an average swing weight of 118, an average twist weight of 6.6, a 16.5 in paddle height, a 7.45 in width and a 16mm core of polypropylene surrounded by EVA foam. The two sources differ on three numbers: grip length 5.8 in (Selkirk) against 5.75 in (Pickleball Effect), swing weight 118 against 117, and twist weight 6.6 against 6.28. Selkirk’s own ratings for the paddle are power 8.5, spin 9 and control 7.5 out of 10. The USA Pickleball list shows the elongated under the brand name “SLK By Selkirk” as “Era Power Elongated”, added 2025-04-14; searches under “Selkirk” did not find it. Amazon showed the White, Elongated listing in stock, sold by Selkirk Sport, the maker’s storefront.

Specs (Selkirk SLK ERA Power, Elongated, White)

  • Core: 16 mm polypropylene honeycomb surrounded by EVA foam (Selkirk)
  • Weight: 7.9–8.4 oz average (Selkirk)
  • Face: woven fiberglass and T700 raw carbon fiber, three layers (Selkirk)
  • Size: 16.5 x 7.45 in; grip length 5.8 in; grip circumference 4.25 in (Selkirk)
  • Swing weight 118, twist weight 6.6 (Selkirk); 117 and 6.28 (Pickleball Effect)
  • Approval: USA Pickleball list, “Era Power Elongated” (SLK By Selkirk), added 2025-04-14 (read 2026-10-22)

Pros

  • Honeycomb-core elongated whose swing weight and twist weight Pickleball Effect calls balanced and solid
  • Pickleball Effect says its twist weight is above average for an elongated paddle
  • Listed by USA Pickleball, with a one-year warranty from Selkirk

Cons

  • Pickleball Effect says there is pace available, but you have to bring the swing to it
  • Pickleball Effect says the widebody remains more forgiving on mishits
  • Pickleball Effect puts the raw surface in Tier 4 for grit durability

Players who want an elongated with a curved head and a 5.5 in handle, knowing the only independent review is from 2022.

$159.95 from AmazonAs of Oct 23, 22:57 UTC

Verdict

The elongated paddle with a curved head that Pickleball Effect called very forgiving for an elongated paddle, and head heavy, in its October 2022 review, for players who want JOOLA’s Ben Johns original in its newer colours.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, exact model. Pickleball Effect: Hyperion CFS 16 (original colours, reviewed October 2022).

Pickleball Effect (tested by Braydon Unsicker, October 20, 2022) reviewed the Hyperion CFS 16 when it launched, in its original colours. Its summary: “The Hyperion CFS 16 is an all-court paddle that leans towards the power side.” Its pros list includes “Very forgiving for an elongated paddle” and its cons list includes “It’s a heavy paddle that feels even heavier because of the extra weight in the head”. It lists 8.4 oz, 16.5 x 7.5 in, a 16mm thickness and a 5.5 in handle, and says: “The 5.5” handle is on the extreme side of longer handles.” Its own ratings for this paddle are control/feel 98%, power 80%, spin 85% and forgiveness 90%.

JOOLA’s page says “Shape: Hyperion (elongated with aero-curve)” and “Class: Elongated”, and lists an 8.4 oz average weight, a 16.5 x 7.5 in size, a 5.5 in grip length, a 4.25 in grip circumference and a 16 mm core. It says the paddle is back in “two brand-new colorways: Crash Teal and Crisp Blue” with “the same Honeycomb Core and Hyperfoam Edge Wall that made it iconic”; the Amazon listing we link is Crisp Blue, so Pickleball Effect tested the same model in its earlier colours, in 2022. joola.com showed both new colours as out of stock when read on 2026-10-22, while Amazon.com showed Crisp Blue in stock. The USA Pickleball list carries the paddle under its long name, “Ben Johns Hyperion Carbon Friction Surface 16mm”, added 2022-04-01.

Specs (JOOLA Hyperion CFS, 16mm, Crisp Blue)

  • Core: 16 mm; honeycomb core with Hyperfoam edge wall (JOOLA)
  • Weight: 8.4 oz average (JOOLA); Pickleball Effect lists 8.4 oz
  • Face: carbon friction surface (JOOLA)
  • Size: 16.5 x 7.5 in; handle 5.5 in; grip circumference 4.25 in (JOOLA)
  • Approval: USA Pickleball list, “Ben Johns Hyperion Carbon Friction Surface 16mm”, added 2022-04-01 (read 2026-10-22); JOOLA lists it as USAP PBCoR .43 certified

Pros

  • Elongated that Pickleball Effect’s 2022 review lists as “Very forgiving for an elongated paddle”
  • Pickleball Effect’s own ratings: control/feel 98% and forgiveness 90%
  • Listed by USA Pickleball and sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • Pickleball Effect found it heavy and head heavy, which it says made it difficult to accelerate through the ball at times
  • Tester review dates from the 2022 launch, in the original colours
  • JOOLA’s own page showed the new colours out of stock when we read it

Elongated · 16 mm dual-density foam

Players who want a full-foam elongated that a tester files as a power paddle and who accept its trade-offs.

$149.25 from AmazonAs of Oct 23, 22:57 UTC

Verdict

The full-foam elongated that Pickleball Effect lists as high power, and whose elongated version it says feels heavy without extra forgiveness, for players who want Bread & Butter’s elongated on the USA Pickleball list.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, exact model. Pickleball Effect: Loco Elongated.

Pickleball Effect (August paddle blitz, page metadata dated September 5, 2025; read 2026-10-22) covered the Loco in widebody, hybrid and elongated shapes. Its snapshot reads “Type: Full-foam power paddle”, “Power: High (low 90s percentile)”, “Control: Fair or modest”, and its cons include “Elongated version feels heavy without extra forgiveness”. Its elongated column lists a static weight of 8 oz, a swing weight of 120 and a twist weight of 7.33. The page says the brands sent the paddles and that the article is not sponsored by them, and it links to the maker with a discount code.

Bread & Butter’s page for “The Loco 16mm Pickleball Paddle- Elongated” lists a weight range of 8.0–8.2 oz, a swing weight of 118–120, a twist weight of 6.28, a 16.5 in length, a 7.375 in width, a 5.5 in grip length, a 4.25 in circumference, a 16mm dual-density foam core of EPP and EVA, a T700 raw carbon fiber face and USAP approval. The twist weights differ: 6.28 (Bread & Butter) against 7.33 (Pickleball Effect). The USA Pickleball list carries “Loco Elongated 16mm”, added 2025-08-05. The maker also sells a “Loco 2 Elongated”, a newer, different paddle that the list shows from 2026-10-01; it is not the one linked here. Amazon showed the Azul, Elongated listing in stock, sold by Selkirk Sport, the storefront that sells Bread & Butter’s listings on Amazon.

Pros

  • Full-foam 16mm elongated with a raw T700 carbon fiber face (Bread & Butter)
  • Pickleball Effect lists its power as high, in the low 90s percentile of its database
  • Listed by USA Pickleball

Cons

  • Pickleball Effect says the elongated version feels heavy without extra forgiveness
  • Pickleball Effect describes the feel as stiff and hollow and its control as fair or modest

Paddletek Bantam TKO-CX 14.3mm

Elongated · 14.3 mm polymer

Players who want the longer handle on an elongated Bantam and accept that the tester's main review covers the shorter-handle sibling.

$199.99 from AmazonAs of Oct 23, 22:57 UTC

Verdict

The elongated Bantam with a 5.75 in handle, which Pickleball Effect only played briefly: it gives the CX 14.3mm a swing weight around 122, found the CX a little heavier and more sluggish than the 5.3 in handle version, and says the higher swing weights did add even more power, for players who want a long handle on a 16.5 in head.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, same series. Pickleball Effect: TKO-C (5.3 in handle); the CX 14.3mm was played briefly.

Paddletek’s page for the Bantam TKO-CX lists “Elongated – 16.5″ x 7.5″”, a 5.75 in handle, a static weight of 7.7–8.1 oz, a “PT-700 Unidirectional Raw Carbon Fiber” face and a “Bantam Quick Response Technology (QRT) Polymer Core” in 12.7 mm and 14.3 mm. The Amazon listing we link is the 14.3 mm, colour Aurora; the maker’s page showed Aurora unavailable on 2026-10-22, while Amazon showed it in stock from Paddletek, the maker’s storefront. Paddletek’s page does not publish a grip circumference; Amazon’s listing says 4.25 inches.

Pickleball Effect (tested by Braydon Unsicker, May 8, 2024) reviewed the TKO-C with the 5.3 in handle (this review is of that sibling, not of the CX) and says it “played briefly” with the CX models. On the CX it writes: “The CX 12.7 has a swingweight around 118 while the CX 14.3 has a swingweight around 122.” It adds: “They obviously have the longer handle and then they do feel a little heavier and more sluggish in comparison to the 5.3” handles.” The next sentence reads: “The higher swingweights did add even more power to the paddle though I couldn’t tell a different stability wise between the CX and C models.” For the TKO-C 14.3mm, the sibling it mainly tested, it lists a 7.9 oz static weight, a swing weight of 115–117, a twist weight of 6.4–6.5 and its own ratings of power 95% and forgiveness 84%. The USA Pickleball list carries “Bantam TKO-CX 14.3mm”, added 2024-05-22.

  • Size: 16.5 x 7.5 in; handle 5.75 in; grip circumference not published by Paddletek (Amazon lists 4.25 in)
  • Swing weight around 122 for the CX 14.3 (Pickleball Effect)
  • Approval: USA Pickleball list, “Bantam TKO-CX 14.3mm”, added 2024-05-22 (read 2026-10-22)

Pros

  • Pickleball Effect rates the 14.3mm TKO-C 95% for power and 84% for forgiveness
  • Listed by USA Pickleball, sold by the maker’s own storefront

Cons

  • Pickleball Effect found the CX a little heavier and more sluggish than the 5.3 in handle version, though it says the higher swing weights did add even more power
  • Same-series evidence: Pickleball Effect’s main test is of the shorter-handle TKO-C, and it played the CX only briefly
  • Paddletek publishes no grip circumference on this page

Who should buy it

Players who want the longer handle on an elongated Bantam and accept that the tester’s main review covers the shorter-handle sibling.

Elongated · 14 mm

Players who want a foam-core elongated and accept that the evidence is series-level plus the maker's page.

$229.99 from AmazonAs of Oct 23, 22:57 UTC

Verdict

The elongated TruFoam Barrage; no independent tester we found has played this shape, so the review rests on CRBN’s own page and on Pickleball Effect’s tests of the other Barrage shapes, for players who want a foam-core elongated that CRBN lists as USAP approved.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, same series. Pickleball Effect: Barrage 4 (hybrid) and Barrage 2 (widebody).

CRBN’s page for “CRBN³ TruFoam Barrage (Elongated)” lists a 100% TruFoam floating core, a 14mm thickness (its single thickness), an “Officially Licensed Toray T700 Carbon Fiber” face and a spec table for this shape: 7.5 x 16.5 in, a 5.5 in handle (measured “from the very bottom to the top of the rubber band”), a 4.125 in circumference, an average weight of 8.0 oz ± 0.2, a balance point of 236 mm, a twist weight of 6.54 and a swing weight of 118–120. CRBN’s “Best For” line for this shape reads “Consistency & Forgiveness” (the maker’s words). It states the paddle is “USAP (+PBCoR 43) & UPA-A Approved”. The USA Pickleball list carries “TRUFOAM BARRAGE 3”, added 2026-03-03.

Independent coverage is of other shapes. Pickleball Effect reviewed the hybrid Barrage 4 and the widebody Barrage 2, and writes: “The TruFoam Barrage is the most offensive series in CRBN’s foam family.” It says the series “straddles the line” between power and all-court, with the 2 in All-Court+ and the 4 just into Power, and says of the 4 that its raw carbon face lacks a durable grit texture. Pickleheads (page metadata dated March 20, 2026) writes: “I haven’t played with the elongated models (1 and 3), but the square and hybrid shapes (2 and 4) are incredibly fast.” Amazon showed the “CRBN 3 – Elongated” listing in stock, sold by CRBN Pickleball, the maker’s storefront; its other shapes are separate listings.

Specs (CRBN TruFoam Barrage 3, Elongated, 14mm)

  • Core: 14 mm; 100% TruFoam floating foam core (CRBN)
  • Weight: 8.0 oz ± 0.2 average (CRBN)
  • Face: Toray T700 raw carbon fiber (CRBN)
  • Size: 16.5 x 7.5 in; handle 5.5 in; grip circumference 4.125 in (CRBN)
  • Swing weight 118–120, twist weight 6.54, balance point 236 mm (CRBN)
  • Approval: USA Pickleball list, “TRUFOAM BARRAGE 3”, added 2026-03-03 (read 2026-10-22); CRBN also lists UPA-A

Pros

  • 14 mm 100% foam floating core with a raw T700 carbon fiber face, as CRBN lists it
  • Pickleball Effect calls the Barrage the most offensive series in CRBN’s foam family
  • Listed by USA Pickleball, sold by the maker’s own storefront

Cons

  • No independent tester we found has played the elongated Barrage; Pickleheads says it has not
  • Pickleball Effect says the Barrage 4’s raw carbon face lacks a durable grit texture
  • CRBN’s “Consistency & Forgiveness” line is the maker’s claim, not a test result

Gearbox GBX Power Elongated

Elongated · 16 mm PPE honeycomb

Players who want a quick, power-rated elongated and who accept a stiffer, less forgiving feel from a tester's report.

$179.99 from AmazonAs of Oct 23, 22:57 UTC

Verdict

The honeycomb elongated that Pickleheads played, rating power 9.5 and control 7 out of 10 and calling it quick and not head heavy, for players who want a Gearbox elongated listed by USA Pickleball.

Evidence: Independently reviewed, exact model. Pickleheads: GBX Power Elongated.

Pickleheads (Taylor Gervais, published May 25, 2026) writes: “I played with the elongated model but it also comes in a hybrid shape.” Its ratings for the elongated are power 9.5, control 7, spin 8 and forgiveness 7 out of 10. On swing, it says: “Even though I played with the elongated model, I was able to whip it through the air. It’s not head heavy like some powerful paddles.” On forgiveness it says: “Gearbox paddles are always lacking in forgiveness. They go for power and are less concerned with saving your mishits. Still, the sweet spot is decent so more advanced players can manage fine.” It adds: “The stiffness makes it a little difficult to control where you’re putting the ball.” The page states: “If you buy through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission.” and carries discount links.

Gearbox’s page lists “Head Shape: Elongated (E)”, a 16mm thickness, a Gen-3 suspended PPE honeycomb core, a raw unidirectional carbon fiber face, an 8.0 oz weight, a 4 in grip, a 5 1/2 in handle, a 16 1/2 in length and a 7 3/8 in width, with a six-month limited warranty (six more on registration). Pickleheads lists the same size and weight. The USA Pickleball list carries “GBX Power Elongated 16mm”, added 2025-10-15. Gearbox’s page also offers a “Paddle Sleeve – Elongated Fit” as an add-on. Amazon showed the Elongated listing in stock, sold by GEARBOX SPORTS, a seller whose name matches the maker’s; we could not confirm on a maker page that it is the maker’s own storefront.

Specs (Gearbox GBX Power, Elongated)

  • Core: 16 mm Gen-3 suspended PPE honeycomb (Gearbox)
  • Weight: 8.0 oz (Gearbox)

  • Approval: USA Pickleball list, “GBX Power Elongated 16mm”, added 2025-10-15 (read 2026-10-22)

Pros

  • 16mm honeycomb elongated that Pickleheads rates 9.5 out of 10 for power
  • Pickleheads says it is not head heavy like some powerful paddles
  • Listed by USA Pickleball, with a 4 in grip listed by Gearbox

Cons

  • Pickleheads rates its control and forgiveness 7 out of 10 and says the stiffness makes placement harder
  • Gearbox lists a six-month limited warranty (six more on registration)
  • The seller is a storefront we could not confirm as Gearbox’s own

Holbrook Aero T 16mm

Elongated · 16 mm foam-injected polypropylene

Players who want an edgeless elongated and who accept a creator's report as the only evidence.

$169.98 from AmazonAs of Oct 23, 22:57 UTC

Verdict

The edgeless elongated that Holbrook lists as “Pro – Aero T [Elongated]”, with a creator’s report on the 16mm and no independent test, for players who want an edgeless elongated with a 5.5 in grip length.

Evidence: No independent test; owner reports. BePickleballer: Aero T 16mm.

Holbrook’s page, titled “Pro – Aero T [Elongated]”, lists a 16.5 x 7.5 in size, a 7.7–8.0 oz weight, a 5.5 in grip length, a 4.25 in grip circumference, 14mm and 16mm thicknesses, a swing weight of 112–115, an “Unibody Edgecraft Foam Injected Polypropylene” core, a “Unibody Force-Tec Unidirectional T700 Carbon Fiber” surface and internal “Dynamic Weight Tech”. The Amazon listing we link is the 16 mm “Carbon Fiber T” style; the Aero X is Holbrook’s hybrid and the S its square shape. The USA Pickleball list carries “Aero T 16mm”, added 2024-10-26.

BePickleballer (a creator’s review posted October 27, 2024, marked “Updated: 11/21/2025”) played the Aero T and writes: “In addition, I have the 16mm Aero-T paddle, but the edgeless design makes it feel like a 14mm paddle.” and “The Aero T’s pickleball paddle’s power is incredible.” It weighed its unit at 7.9 oz, inside Holbrook’s range. This is a creator’s own report, not a lab test, and its page says Holbrook provided a referral code: “I get a few dollars if you purchase this paddle through the link.” On Amazon the 16 mm listing showed in stock on 2026-10-22 with one scarce offer; the buy box read Holbrook Pickleball on the Amazon page and Angel Seller through Amazon’s product API, so the seller can differ when you check.

Specs (Holbrook Aero T, 16mm, Carbon Fiber T)

  • Core: 16 mm unibody foam-injected polypropylene (Holbrook)
  • Weight: 7.7–8.0 oz (Holbrook)
  • Face: unibody Force-Tec unidirectional T700 carbon fiber (Holbrook)
  • Size: 16.5 x 7.5 in; grip length 5.5 in; grip circumference 4.25 in (Holbrook)
  • Swing weight 112–115 (Holbrook)
  • Approval: USA Pickleball list, “Aero T 16mm”, added 2024-10-26 (read 2026-10-22)

Pros

  • Edgeless elongated with a foam-injected polypropylene core and a T700 carbon surface, as Holbrook lists it
  • A creator who owns the 16mm says it feels like a 14mm paddle
  • Listed by USA Pickleball

Cons

  • Only a creator’s report with a referral relationship covers the 16mm; we found no independent test
  • Holbrook lists one range for both thicknesses, so the 16mm’s own weight is not separate
  • The Amazon buy box rotates between sellers

Who should buy it

$119.99 from AmazonAs of Oct 23, 22:57 UTC

Verdict

The raw-carbon Lucent that Onix lists as elongated at 14mm with a 5.7 in handle; we found no independent test of this model, so the review rests on Onix’s page.

Evidence: No independent test; maker specs. Source: Onix.

Onix’s page for the Lucent RC lists “Paddle Shape: Elongated”, a 16.5 in length, a 7.5 in face width, a 5.7 in handle, a 4.125 in grip circumference, a 7.75–8.25 oz weight, a Hexcell polypropylene core, a 14mm thickness and a raw carbon fiber face, and says “Meets USAPA requirements: Yes”. It also calls the measurements and weights approximate and describes the shape as one that “provides extended reach and added power potential”, which is the maker’s claim. The USA Pickleball list carries “Lucent RC”, added 2026-05-05, and a separate “Lucent” entry for the composite-face paddle. Amazon showed the Black – Raw Carbon listing in stock, sold by Amazon.com. Searches for a written independent review of this model found none we could read, so the evidence is the maker’s page only.

Specs (Onix Lucent RC, Black – Raw Carbon)

Pros

  • Raw-carbon elongated at 14mm with a 5.7 in handle, as Onix lists it
  • Onix lists it as meeting USAPA requirements, and the USA Pickleball list carries it

  • Onix calls its measurements and weights approximate
  • Onix does not publish a swing weight or twist weight on this page

Length and handle: what the makers list

Readers who search for the longest paddle or for a way to extend reach are asking what the numbers say, so here are the figures the makers list for these nine paddles, with no ranking of our own.

PaddleLengthWidthHandle lengthGrip circumference
JOOLA Perseus Pro IV 16mm16.5 in7.5 in5.5 in4.25 in
Selkirk SLK ERA Power Elongated16.5 in7.45 in5.8 in4.25 in

CRBN TruFoam Barrage 3 Elongated16.5 in7.5 in5.5 in4.125 in
Gearbox GBX Power Elongated16.5 in7.375 in5.5 in4 in
Holbrook Aero T 16mm16.5 in7.5 in5.5 in4.25 in
Onix Lucent RC 14mm16.5 in7.5 in5.7 in4.125 in

These are the makers’ own figures. CRBN notes that its handle length is “measured from the very bottom to the top of the rubber band”; we did not check how the others measure. USA Pickleball’s Equipment Standards Manual (Revision 3.0, January 2025) lists the following paddle-size equipment standard, which we quote here only as a product specification: “The combined length and width, including any edge guard and butt cap, shall not exceed 24 inches (60.96 cm). The paddle length cannot exceed 17 inches (43.18 cm). There is no restriction on paddle thickness.” No maker above lists a length over 16.5 in. For how paddle sizes compare, see our guide to pickleball paddle size.

What testers say an elongated shape gives up

Pickleball Effect’s paddle-choosing guide lists these characteristics for elongated paddles: “More reach”, “More leverage”, “Often higher power potential”, “Smaller sweet spot from side to side”, “Higher swing weights and less maneuverable” and “Sweet spot located higher on face”. It adds: “The tradeoff is that they are often less forgiving and less maneuverable than other shapes.” The same guide gives typical measured ranges for elongated paddles in its database of a swing weight of 114–120 and a twist weight of 5.9–6.3, and it warns that “there’s plenty of variation within each shape”. The swing weights listed for our picks run from 112 (the low end of Holbrook’s listed range) to 120 (Pickleball Effect’s Loco unit). For how core thickness changes the picture, see our 14mm vs 16mm guide, and for what weight does, our guide to pickleball paddle weight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is an elongated pickleball paddle?

Pickleball Effect’s guide says: “Elongated paddles are longer and narrower and typically measure 16.5” x 7.5”.” Every pick in this guide lists a 16.5 in length, and the makers’ own pages name the shape elongated. Pickleball Effect’s glossary also lists a less common “Extra-Elongated” shape of 17″ x 7″; none of our nine is listed that way.

Q. Are elongated pickleball paddles better than other shapes?

Pickleball Effect’s guide says: “You’ll often hear players say elongated paddles are for power and advanced players, while widebodies are for beginners and control players. Maybe you could’ve said that 3 years ago, but it’s not true anymore. Today you can find power paddles in widebody shapes and control paddles in elongated shapes.” It also says elongated paddles are often less forgiving and less maneuverable than other shapes. Better depends on what you want from a paddle; see our best pickleball paddles guide for every shape.

Q. Do most pro pickleball players use elongated paddles?

Pickleball Effect’s guide says: “Elongated paddles have historically been the most popular shape because they’re what most pros use, although that’s starting to change.” For the paddles pros are listed with, see our best pro pickleball paddles guide and our guide to what paddle pickleball pros use.

Q. What is the longest pickleball paddle?

Among these nine, every maker lists 16.5 in, as the table above shows. USA Pickleball’s Equipment Standards Manual lists a 17 inch paddle-length figure as a product specification (quoted in full above), and Pickleball Effect’s glossary names a 17″ x 7″ shape, but we did not find a maker’s page listing one of our picks at that length.

Q. Which of these paddles lists the longest handle?

By the makers’ own figures, the Selkirk SLK ERA Power Elongated lists a 5.8 in grip length, the Paddletek Bantam TKO-CX a 5.75 in handle and the Onix Lucent RC a 5.7 in handle; the other six list 5.5 in. Pickleball Effect measured the ERA’s grip length at 5.75 in, so treat the figures as each source’s own.

Q. Do elongated paddles extend your reach?

Pickleball Effect’s guide lists “More reach” among elongated characteristics, and the makers’ pages describe the shape the same way: Onix says its elongated shape “provides extended reach and added power potential”, and Gearbox’s page lists “Extended Reach” in its shape heading. Those are shape-level statements, not measurements of any paddle here, and we have no model-specific reach figure; the numbers we can give are the listed lengths above.

Q. Are elongated paddles heavy?

Pickleball Effect’s guide says: “Elongated paddles place more weight farther from your hand, which is why they typically feel heavier to swing and have higher swing weights.” The listed static weights of our picks run from 7.7 oz to 8.4 oz. See our paddle weight guide for what weight does, and our explainer on what swing weight is for the swing-weight side.

Q. Are elongated paddles good for power or control?

Both labels appear in the sources: Pickleball Effect files the Loco as a full-foam power paddle and the SLK ERA Power Elongated as All-Court, and JOOLA’s page lists the Hyperion CFS with a control rating of 8.5 and a power rating of 7.5. For paddles chosen for pace, see our best power pickleball paddles; for paddles chosen for touch, see our best control pickleball paddles.

Q. Is there a budget elongated paddle?

This guide is chosen for shape, not price, and does not rank paddles by cost. The tier markers in the paddle finder show where each sits within this guide only. For paddles chosen for price, see our best budget pickleball paddles.

Q. Do elongated paddles need a special cover?

We did not test cover fit. Gearbox’s GBX Power Elongated page offers a “Paddle Sleeve – Elongated Fit” as an add-on, and we have not checked the other makers’ covers.

Q. Are these paddles approved for tournaments?

Check the list for your exact model. On 2026-10-22 the USA Pickleball list showed entries for all nine picks, as dated in the table, some under longer or different names than the makers use.

The bottom line

Final Verdict

The JOOLA Perseus Pro IV 16mm (check price) is the elongated that Pickleball Effect measured and says feels jumpier than the 14mm, with easier access to power. The Selkirk SLK ERA Power Elongated (check price) is the honeycomb-core elongated whose swing weight and twist weight Pickleball Effect calls balanced and solid. The JOOLA Hyperion CFS 16mm (check price) is the elongated with a curved head that Pickleball Effect’s 2022 review lists as very forgiving for an elongated paddle. The Bread & Butter Loco Elongated (check price) is the full-foam elongated that Pickleball Effect lists as high power, and the Gearbox GBX Power Elongated (check price) is the honeycomb elongated that Pickleheads played and rates 9.5 out of 10 for power. The Paddletek Bantam TKO-CX 14.3mm (check price), the CRBN TruFoam Barrage 3 Elongated (check price), the Holbrook Aero T 16mm (check price) and the Onix Lucent RC (check price) rest on a sibling’s test and a brief play, other shapes’ tests, a creator’s report and the maker’s page respectively, and each review says so.

Whichever you choose, treat a tester’s score as a statement about that tester’s method and scale, and check the approved list for your exact model before a sanctioned event.
